Title: The mystery of suffering
Text: Isaiah 53:1-6, James 1:2-8
There are 12 Hebrew and 21 Greek terms that contain the concepts of suffering and anguish. The terms mean 'to suffer, endure hardship, torment, torment, torment, aches, to suffer, to suffer, to be oppressed, to be harassed, to leave, to be left alone'. It presupposes mental pain, and may or may not include physical pain. Anguish refers to intense pain. These words help the biblical understanding of human suffering. 1) God’s judgment on sin, 2) empathy for the misfortunes of others, 3) a substitutionary responsibility for the punishment of others, 4) for true repentance and faith, 5) a warning to prevent greater evil than , 6) training to resemble the character of Christ. It reminds us that the reasons for suffering and their roles are diverse. Be wary of generalizations.
