Title The person required by the times
The person required by the age (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
Today is such an important day. It is a day to raise the leader of Seomun Church, who should leave 100 years of history behind and open a new era. If you could photograph one important person, which person would you photograph? The Bible says that God does not use anyone, but searches through them and finds a man after his heart. In 1 Timothy 3, which we read today, there are 15 records about the qualifications of an elder. “Reproachable, husband to one wife, temperate, sober, modest, hospitable, good at teaching, not a drinker, not beaten, but tolerant, not quarrelsome, not greedy. Those who do not love, and who rule their houses well, subjecting their children to subjection with all modesty, not those who are new to the church, but those who have gained good witness.” If we can classify these words into three broad categories, first, an elder must have a good character. Second, an elder must be a person who manages the family well. Third, elders must be respected in society (by unbelievers).
Some people campaign for the eldership, knowing that it is a high position, while others explicitly promote their husbands or children. It is never right in front of God. There is great joy when the workers are well selected, but the whole church falls into temptation because of the wrong selection. Therefore, we must be careful in selecting God's servants. Elect those who are after God's heart, but let's raise a precious person who is praised by character, family, and society.
