Title The Power of the Gospel

Contents

Hymn: Chapter 202, “Freedom from Sin”

Meditation: The gospel seems foolish to people. But here lies the mystery of the gospel.

Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed

Text: “The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved… ” (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Whatever is precious and good, the high-ranking people or the powerful, wealthy, and clever people take it first. The gospel is the most precious thing in the world. Life. But it doesn't look attractive. If the gospel is attractive and can be known by the wisdom of the world, the poor and the powerless will not be able to hear the gospel or go to heaven.

But God has hidden the secret of heaven. He made it possible for the poor in spirit to take possession of the gospel first, not the high-ranking or rich people in the world. The gospel is of little importance to those who consider themselves strong and smart. If you are living well by your own power, why do you need the Gospel? To them, the gospel is hidden. God has made the wisdom of the world foolish.

You don't know God in the way you earn money and advance into a career. However, if you have faith in the most foolish way of the gospel, that is, Jesus crucified, you will come to know God. We are saved in the most foolish way. Therefore, we must carry out the work of salvation in the way of evangelism that still seems foolish.

Even if a good manager has the ability to take bad players and beat good players, one condition must be met. You have to trust the coach and the players must follow. We experience great power when we agree and obey the Lord's ways. Even if it seems foolish, simply believe and obey.

General Naaman was the right arm of the king of Syria, and he was stricten with leprosy. The prophet Elisha told him to go to the Jordan River and wash seven times. It was stupid and stupid. But Naaman believed and bathed seven times in the Jordan River, and his leprosy was healed.

The precious gospel seems foolish by the world's standards, but that is God's law. Therefore, the humble can follow, and the poor in spirit can obey. It is through them that the gospel works with power.

Prayer: Help us to obey God's word and show the power of the gospel. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
