Title The Race of Faith (Hebrews 12:1~3)
Content The Christian life of faith is often compared to a marathon race, but I think it is an appropriate metaphor. If you meditate on today's text, you can discover such a thing.
It is said that in the marathon race, many spectators watch the race and applaud the athletes of encouragement and support, so in the race of our faith, many ancestors of faith are sending encouragement and support. (Verse 1) )
However, he says, unlike the marathon race, those who watch our race of faith are not just spectators, but witnesses.
Witnesses are people who give true testimony about what they have seen, heard, and experienced.
There are three things that are required of us who are running a race of faith like a marathon.
First, we must cast off all the burdens and the sins that easily entangle us and run.
Marathon racing is not a sprint. The race of faith is not a sprint race either. It is not about believing in Jesus today and giving up your faith tomorrow. Our life of faith continues until the day we enter the kingdom of God. So we have to take off all the heavy stuff. All the heavy things are of the world, such as worldly worries, worries, and anxieties. You can never run the race of faith after losing a lot of these things. We must also cast off the sins that easily entangle us. Saying you go to a holy God, you cannot take away all the dirty and shabby sins in your heart and in your life.
Second, you must be patient and run. Just like a marathon, the life of faith is never easy. If there are people who think that the life of faith is easy or not a big deal, then it must be a fake Christian or someone who is living a false life. If we try to live uprightly through the Word in Christ, suffering is bound to follow us. I have to fight the sinful nature within myself, and I have to fight fiercely with the world every day. In such a case, excruciating pain and patience will inevitably follow. The reason we have to persevere to the end despite the hardships and hardships of our religious life is because we have a reward. Just as marathon runners later receive gold medals and crowns on the podium, rewards from God will be given to us who have successfully completed the race of faith. We have to look at it, endure in faith, and run the race of faith.
Finally, thirdly, you must set a clear goal and run. Just as a marathon runner runs towards the finish line, we also need to have a clear goal in our lives of faith. Because only then can you run right to the end. What is the clear goal in the race of faith? are you blessed? Is it the goal of faith to have peace in the home and the health of the whole family? It's not like that. The goal of faith must be "Jesus" alone. "Let's look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith." We must only look to Jesus and run. Being like Jesus should be the goal of our faith. When that is not the goal, we become disappointed, complaining, and stumble.
Today we are running the race track of faith.
How is your race of faith going now?
