Title The secret to winning the test

Hymn: 342 (all 395) 'You are tempted'
Meditation: There are trials and tribulations in our lives, not just success and happiness. There are two major trials we face, how can we overcome them?
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you face various trials... If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him" (James 1 :2-5).
James 1:1~12 is a test (trial) given by God, and verses 13~18 are a temptation (temptation) given by the devil. Saints must distinguish and deal with this test well.
First, in order to pass the test that God has given us (verses 1 to 12), we must first consider ourselves completely happy (verses 2 to 4). The reason we should rejoice in the midst of trials is that through trials we become Christians who lack nothing. And we must pray (verses 5-8). When you pray, ask without doubting. We must also be humble (verses 9-11). When the test comes, I need to check to see if there is anything arrogant in front of God and people. Also, be patient to the end (verse 12). It is painful and sad at that time when we are faced with trials, but after we overcome them, we are recognized by God, receive the crown of life, and receive great blessings.
Second, among the secrets of overcoming temptation from the devil (verses 13-18), first cast off greed (verse 14). The cause of failure is not in others, but in yourself. When lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin. So, please let go of unnecessary greed. And also forsake sin (verse 15). The devil visits and tempts those who have failed to forsake their sins. When sin matures, it brings forth death. Sin brings ruin and death to man. Not only that, but hold on to the Word to the end (verse 18). Revelation 12:11 says, "By the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, they overcame him." Jesus also overcame the temptations of the devil with the word of God (Matthew 4:1-11). God allows only the temptations that we can bear, and gives us the way of escape, and makes us bear them (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to discern well with your wisdom when various trials come, and when trials come, we can rejoice and overcome them more humbly by relying on God alone. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
