Source of Revelation (Revelation 5)
1. The basis of revelation is in heaven
Many people in history have made predictions about the future, and even now there are many books about the future. But in the true sense, the protagonist of history is God, so only God can prophesy correctly. It must be the last prophetic Bible in the global village. It is happening again in the Son Jesus.
History will end according to the prophecy of the Bible. The history of Jesus and the history of the church will soon show the end of the history of the world. The Bible records how God will save and judge the world. That is why the foundation of world history is in heaven. We pray, 'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven'.
Two clear lessons from this chapter are that man cannot give true revelation, and that even if there is true revelation, man cannot know it for himself. It will be seen and revealed in Jesus.
The book sealed by the seven seals - John could not see the book of revelation in heaven himself. No one in heaven could see it. This speaks to the limitations of man. Even the Bible, a special revelation given to us to understand that revelation, cannot be understood by the intellect.
It can be solved only by reading it with faith in Jesus. God created the world and gave it a revelation in the words of the world, but we cannot understand it by ourselves because we cannot understand it through earthly learning, and only the correct prophetic revelation tells us that it is in the midst of God.
Verse 1, 'a book in the right hand', the right side is authority, power, and dominion, written 'inside and out' means sufficient revelation, and 'sealed with seven seals' means the secret of the perfect revelation. The correct revelation of history is that it was in the midst of God.
2. It is Jesus Christ the Lamb who will reveal the revelation
As John weeps before this unknown revelation, one of the elders tells him what he will know through the Lamb Jesus Christ. The Lamb means Jesus Christ.
John 1:29 'The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world'.
The Lord is like the Lamb who died for our sins, like the lamb sacrificed for the Passover.
Verse 5, 'The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome', he is the one who has overcome death, Satan, and the world. He is victorious through the resurrection. The word 'victory' (enikesen) means that you have already won and that victory continues. It means that the Lord has already overcome and He is the victor who keeps winning together with the saints.
Jesus said in John 16:33 "...in the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world..."
Verse 6, He wants the saints to become those who have overcome the world by being like Jesus who overcame.
The Lamb's 'early slain' is the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, and the 'seven horns and seven spirits', the seven horns, mean perfect power, seven eyes, and seven perfections, so it is the Holy Spirit. So it means that Jesus Christ has the perfect wisdom of the Holy Spirit and is perfect in authority.
The source of revelation is in heaven, and through Jesus Christ we can know the meaning of revelation. Jesus is not historically a person of the Holy Spirit, but the Jesus expressed in the Book of Revelation is the Son of Jesus as the God of the Word who came in the flesh as in John 1:1, 14.
It is said that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was incarnated. It means that Jesus Christ is the living Spirit of the Word who came in the flesh. It means Jesus Christ who is the same as the God of the Word.
In the end, it means that Jesus is the source of truth and the revelator, whether in the Old and New Testament times before the birth of Jesus Christ or in the history after the birth of Christ. Ultimately, it is only when we participate in the person and life of Jesus that we can receive revelation and realize it.
Rather than any mystical prayers we receive at the prayer hall, we can truly understand the revelation when we take Jesus into our faith life and participate in the person of Jesus. In the text, the book of this revelation is held in Jesus??hands and God the Father revealed it through him. This is because Jesus, who became the truth of 14:6, can reveal the truth of the last days.
Jesus was not an ordinary person who came and went as a person, but the One who allowed us to meet God. It means that he came to know God through the deeds of Jesus. Through the revelation of history and the revelation of God, God makes us realize the right things of life in the global village and the content of the future, and it was given through Jesus.
Without Jesus, the church cannot speak of any other glory. Preaching, life must follow Jesus. The Sabbath also follows Jesus, so Saturday through Sunday become the Sabbath. The words of the martyrs also follow Jesus because God reveals them through Jesus.
The source of revelation is Jesus. You need to understand Jesus right away. In the right sense, saints are those who have been revealed. They said that unless God reveals it, we cannot believe in Jesus. If you learn the Word, pray, come to church often, and come close to Jesus, God reveals how to live.
You must go to Jesus, who is the revelation itself, not to go somewhere to fast and hear strange sounds. You must receive answers to all of your personal things. When the Lord spoke repeatedly, He said that the words He spoke are the words of God who sent Himself.
The conclusion is that the source of revelation is in the hands of Jesus. Without Jesus, we must seek and live with Him faithfully, not as theology, science, or the disciplines of the times. That is why the 4 Gospels and Acts are very important. The four Gospels and Acts may be more important than Romans or Revelation or Genesis. Because without Jesus there is no will of God. Because all God has entrusted His will to Jesus.
3. Jesus Christ to be worshiped and praised
In chapter 4, the 24 elders and the 4 living creatures glorified and praised the Father,
Chapter 5 praises the glory of the Son Jesus Christ,
The 4 living creatures and the 24 elders glorified the Lamb Jesus, and at the same time, the living creatures and the many angels of heaven around the elders praised them, and all things in heaven and earth praised them. The 24 elders are bowing down and worshiping the Lord.
Verse 8 says that the incense that fills the 'golden bowl' is the prayers of the saints.
Psalm 141:2 ?쏬et my prayer be before you as incense, and the raising of my hands as the evening sacrifice.??Our prayers are offered to the Lord by burning our hearts like burning incense.
Verses 9-10, 'a new song' (14:3), this is a song of salvation and a song of heaven. A new song is a song dedicated to God. In the past, there was a hymn called New Hymn in Gosin. The new song may not be heard by the world. Because it is given to God, unbelievers may not know it. If you match people's intellect, your grace will fall on the contrary. Lyrics and hymns sung to God may not fit the psychology of the world. A new song, it's a hymn now.
'Bought with blood', that is, in blood, 'by blood'. The word 'buy' here means to shop at the market. It means that the Lord shed His blood and paid for us. It means that you bought us, who were miserably abandoned, with your blood. It means that He redeemed us by sacrificing His precious blood, which is more precious than the world.
Acts 20:28 ?쏝e careful about yourselves and for all your flock, for the Holy Spirit has made you overseers among them over the church, which God bought with his own blood.
We don't just believe in Jesus, we are the result of something paid. Believers romantically refer to their neighbor as a debtor of love, but first consider him a debtor to Jesus. It is wrong to take care of our neighbors without paying tithes or not having Holy Week. Loyal to the Lord first, then neighbors. The real debt is the blood of Jesus.
Verses 11-12, the hymn,
4:4-9, we sing praises to the Father, and if you look at the contents, there are omnipotence, holiness, glory, honor and thanks, 5:12, many angels give the Son power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and praise. , 7:12, The angels' hymns have the content of praise, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, and strength, because the praises given to the Father and the Son were of the same center, and the honor, authority, power, and glory of the Father and the Son I mean, it's like this.
What we see through the lyrics of the hymn is that the Lord should be the most honorable in the world. At the same time, it speaks of God in the Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
It must be Jesus that people give glory to. It is giving what you give to God. The content of glorifying the Lamb Jesus Christ in Chapter 5 is the same as the glorification of God the Father in Chapter 4.
If we summarize the center of the whole worship from Chapter 4,
(1) You must be full of spirituality (4:2). The apostle John was filled with the Holy Spirit and saw the sky.
(2) There must be the glory of God (the extent of the pulpit) (4:7), and the word of God must be proclaimed with authority.
(3) It must be holy (4:8), and it refers to a distinct liturgical character.
(4) You must have humility (4:10). If you are arrogant during worship, you will feel bad. Everyone should be humble.
(5) There must be an earnest longing for the truth (5:3,4). Those who worship must long for the truth, not come to take a picture with the pastor.
(6) Jesus Christ must stand out (5:5-7), Jesus must stand out even in advertisements.
(7) There must be gratitude for redemption (5:10). Whatever it is, we must worship God, focusing on how Jesus Christ died for us and how He lived for us, focusing on gratitude for that redemption. In order to know the revelation of the last days, John's inspiration in chapters 4-5 is that he fulfills his duty by praising and worshiping Jesus Christ.
Individuals, churches, and groups living in the world, revelation, wisdom, and position means that revelation comes through good worship. .
Do not leave worship and become a mystic, but worship well. We learn that the source of truth is in God's midday, in the kingdom of heaven and not on earth, and that revelation is released centered on Jesus, and that God's response to revelation requires worship before the Lord completely.
In front of the fact that the revelation of the last days will be held after the worship of the 4 living creatures, the 24 elders, the heavenly armies and all things, we realize that we must worship according to the Bible. When you do this, you will realize the true will of God and believe that you will receive the Spirit of revelation fully.
