Title The Spirit Must Live Ⅲ

Text: John 12:1-8
If the spirit lives, gratitude will live.
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2).
When the spirit lives, gratitude arises instead of resentment, complaints, and other people's faults. If the flesh is the shell of an egg, then the soul is like the white and the spirit is like the yolk. The spirit is the body of my life. The words written earlier than the health of the body and prosperity in life make the soul prosper, and in order for this precious spirit to live, it must not be the spirit of the first man, Adam. You must be filled with the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit. Because the filling of the Holy Spirit is so important, he talked a lot about the Holy Spirit before Jesus died on the cross.
“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you forever” (14:16).
“He will testify of me when the Counselor whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father” (John 15:26).
“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; the Counselor will not come to you unless I go away; but if I go, I will send him to you” (John 16:7).
“But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own, but will speak what he hears, and will make known to you things to come” (John 16:13).
He wanted the Holy Spirit to be given to the saints who were redeemed by the blood of Jesus in order to revive our spirits with the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!
In order to receive the filling of the Holy Spirit and live in the spirit, we must repent. So, when does the Holy Spirit come?
First time to pray! “They all worked together in prayer (Acts 1:14)”, “They all gathered in one place (prayer)” (Acts 2:1)
When we pray, the fire of the Holy Spirit comes upon us.
Second, when you repent! “Repent and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).” Last time we recorded the day we received the Holy Spirit during the all-night service of our Shepherd Church, we recorded the day we received the Holy Spirit and shared the grace with us. I used to have time. Among the recorded contents, most of them said that the Holy Spirit came upon them when they repented.
Third, when listening to the Word! “As Peter was speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the word, and the circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Gentiles as well, for they heard them speaking in tongues and exalting God (Acts 10:44-) 46).”
We can see the work of the Holy Spirit in Peter's ministry in Cornelius's family.
Fourth, when laying hands on your hands! “Paul laid his hands on them, and the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied, and there were about twelve in all” (Acts 19:6-7). You can see the work of the Holy Spirit in Paul's ministry in the Ephesian church.
“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who will do all my will” (Acts 13:22).
God loved David because he was a man of repentance, that is, a man who turned away from sin. David was not a man who lived in the age of the Holy Spirit, but he lived more repentantly than we who live in the age of the Holy Spirit.
In John 12, Martha and Mary appear. They lived in Bethany. Bethany is a village close to Jerusalem, so Jesus' company often visited. When Lazarus died, Jesus shed tears and saved him, so Lazarus' family was close to Jesus. The pouring of perfumed oil here is the content of today's text.
The main character was Maria. In verse 3, “he took a handful of very expensive perfumed oil, that is, pure nard, and poured it on Jesus’ feet.” Here, “expensive” means the best, the most expensive, the best, and not easy to obtain. Also, in the word “pure nad hangeun,” “nad” is a precious perfume that was purchased through a trader as it was harvested from the quince tree of the martini family and its origin was India. “One pound” here is 340g, and in Mark 14:3, it is also described as one bowl. Moreover, the price was not cheap, so it was the most expensive product equivalent to 300 denarii. Considering that the daily wage at that time was 1 denarius, 300 denarii might be the total wealth in a way. Jesus praised him for giving this precious thing, and said, “Truly, I say to you, where the gospel is preached, what this woman has done will also be told in remembrance of her” (Mark 14:9). You said.
