Title The Temple (Ephesians 2:20-22)
Believing in Jesus is not an easy matter of simply dying and going to heaven. “I will believe in Jesus” and “I will follow Jesus” mean to be without a house or a mosque. This means that we no longer use Jesus as an excuse to run away from the pursuit of our own wealth and comfort. Look at Peter. How do you pursue the Lord? Did you pack everything, call the moving center, load the luggage into the truck, and then follow the Lord? I threw it all away. They left their boats, their nets, and their fathers. We think that it is too easy for us to be saved or to become God's people, so we know that we can go to church, worship, serve, read the Bible, and do that. It's not like that. To become God's people, from now on, we will follow the same path that Jesus went. that has a meaning. The Bible says that since I died on the cross with Christ, I no longer live. Is this all? It is a believer who honors only Christ, whether in life or death, and a Christian is what he eats or drinks for the glory of Christ only.
What is the message of today's text? It is said that we are making a dwelling place for God in Christ Jesus. The word “dwelling place of God” refers to the temple. In other words, He is making us the temple of God. First of all, what we need to know clearly here is that the building of the temple in the Bible is the word of today's text. But what is the temple construction like? Are you building a building? Are you building bricks and concrete? no. The building of the temple is to become God's people through the power of Jesus. A chapel is not a temple. It's just a chapel. Why are you building a temple? It is for God to dwell. Where is God's dwelling, not a building, but who? person. What did you say before the gathering of believers in Esu? It is called the body of Christ. This was called the church. In other words, this is a temple. To believe in Jesus is to be a temple. When Jesus is in me, that is the temple.
How, then, was the temple built in the Old Testament? In the Old Testament, David was the first to start the temple. David wants to build a temple. why? He said that he would build a temple to commemorate the victory of God when he defeated all the tribes in the land of Canaan. In other words, the temple was built as a proof that God has triumphed. For that reason, the temple gave up everything of the world, Lord. Jesus overcame everything. beat me conquered me It is a temple from that point of view. The temple is the place to rest after conquering all mankind who rebelled against God and sinned. If we apply this to us, God will have to strike me all in order to come into me. After conquering my greed and destroying everything I want to live as I want, I am conquered before God. That is what I become as a temple. Therefore, the true form of the temple is to rejoice, saying, “Thank you for conquering me, O God.”
For example, we can take Joseph. Joseph was obsessed with promises. Did Joseph dream because he wanted to? God made it happen. He was hated by his brothers, sold, and became a slave. That is not the end of it, and despite resisting the temptation of Potiphar's wife, on the contrary, he is framed and goes to prison. Did Joseph want to do that? I was taken by the promise. And through Joseph, the promise was fulfilled. This is the temple. Believing in Jesus is not just going to church. It is being conquered by Jesus. That's what captivates me. And he lives the way he wants. A life that is not suspended from this world, but suspended from heaven is the temple life. Are you a temple? Buy it like that.
