Title The Watchman's Mission (Ezekiel 33:1-9)

Contents

October 31st is Reformation Day. So, I would like to say first that today's Word was prepared with the background of Reformation Sunday.

There was a time when a North Korean soldier's knock-on defection became a social issue.

On the night of October 2nd, there was an incident where a North Korean soldier crossed the South Korean GOP, or South Limit Line, and expressed his intention to defect. However, when this North Korean soldier arrived at the southern limit line fence and knocked on the guard door "tiktok", but there was no response, so he went to the dormitory where there are likely to be soldiers again and knocked on the door and announced his intention to defect. The word “knock gwisun” ridicules and ridicules the laxity of our national defense security.

I think all the people must have thought that, after encountering the knock-on defection, problems related to national defense were exposed, and our safety and life were threatened. I think it was a precious opportunity to remind you once again how dangerous it is if the watchman fails to do his job.

The watchman is called "Watchman" in English. It means a person who watches with eyes wide open. In this way, the 'watchman' reminds people who are vigilant and keep watch. The watchman's job is very important, because if the watchman is vigilant, big things happen. The watchman's mission cannot be overemphasized, for the safety of the community rests on the watchman's eyelid. In order to defend the community and keep the castle safe, this position called the watchman is a necessary and very important position. In any age and in any society, those who risk their lives for public safety are essential.

But the important thing is that we are spiritual watchmen. God said to Ezekiel, "I made you a watchman for Israel." The word 'assigned' means 'appointed' or 'made' in Hebrew. You have made us watchmen. Therefore, it is our duty as watchmen.

There are still people and social evils trying to harm us in this world. That is why we cannot live without defense.

Through today's text, "Let's take a look at the mission of the watchman.

1. The watchman must climb to the highest point.

Sentinel must be aware of the enemy's approach. To do that, you have to climb a high tower. You must climb to the highest point to see the enemy's invasion in advance. You cannot sit still in the castle. For the watchman to protect the castle, he must climb up the wall, and for the vineyard keeper to protect the vineyard, he must build a tower in the vineyard and climb it. When you go up to such a high place, you can see far into the distance, and you can spot it before you approach it.

You have to work hard to get to the top. You have to pay for it. You have to make time and you have to work hard.

Where are you spiritually high? It is where God dwells. It is where the presence of God is. A place where you can hear the voice of God. We have to go right there.

2. The watchman must be awake.

Watchmen must not close their eyes or doze off. For then you will not “see the sword come”. You must always be awake. (Mt 24:42-46) The word infinite is the word for the watchman. “Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord will come, for you also know that if the owner of the house had known at what point the thief was coming, he would have been awake and would not have broken through the house” (Matthew 24:42-43). “Be sober and watchful, your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8), so our spirit must always be awake.

Evil demons are prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour in order to steal our life and peace that God has given us today. To be safe from these demonic attacks, we must stay together.

3. The watchman must blow the trumpet as he sees and hears.

Verse 3 “When the man saw that the sword was coming down on the land, he blew the trumpet and warned the people.”

We need to lift our eyes and see what the Lord is doing with his people. Verse 7 says, “You must listen to the words of my mouth.

And we must blow the trumpet according to what we have seen and heard. You must not be rude. My opinion is not that important. You must blow the trumpet as you see and hear.

4. You must do it to the end.

Isaiah 62:6-7 “I have set a watch over your walls, O Jerusalem, and I have kept them silent day and night. give him no rest until

Until all dangers are resolved, and until the problem is completely resolved, the watchman must fulfill the role and mission of the watchman.

We are spiritual watchmen. The church is the watchman of the world. The church and we once again confirm the mission of the watchman and bless you in the name of the Lord that you will become the church and members who fulfill that mission.
