Title This Water and the Water (John 4:7-14)
The lack of water these days is a real problem. The Hantangang River dried up due to the worst drought since meteorological observations in the central region, and the Mihocheon Stream near us dried up. According to the news, water problems are serious in several places, including Dongducheon City, due to lack of drinking water, and our members who are farmers are busy watering their crops every day.
Water is a problem in the Saemangeum reclamation project, the conflict between Israel and the Arabs is ultimately a water battle, and I think World War 3 will also come because of water. Because one of the signs of the end times in the Bible is that the water will dry up.
Water is life, and it has a deep relationship with life.
No, it is not an exaggeration to say that it is almost absolute. The reason is that, first, God created man to have a deep relationship with water. When God created this earth, he placed water in the sky, water under the earth, and water on the earth. And in this world after the flood, he created the environment so that the ratio of sea to land is 7:3. Also, when God created human beings, he made them out of clay. Didn't he form them with water at this time? However, it is probably made thick by using a lot of water. More than 70% of our body is water, and without water, our body cannot sustain itself for a day. A human body cannot exist without water. A person can live for more than a month without food, but a few days without drinking water. Water is directly related to survival, that is, life.
Second, people live with water. So God made the Euphrates, Gihon, Pison, and Hiddekel four rivers flow down in the Garden of Eden as well. After the Fall, the people who were expelled from Eden live together, that is, when civilization is achieved, it is also done at the riverside. The four major civilizations in the world were all along the river. In Mesopotamia, the Euphrates and Tigris rivers flow, in Egypt the Nile River flows, in the Yellow River civilization the Yellow River, and in the Indus civilization the Ganges River flows. The old villages in our country were all near water. They build houses where there is water, farm where there is water, and tend cattle and flocks where there is water. It is still the same. Where there is water, cities are planned and industrial complexes are built. Because water is so important to human life.
Thirdly, people find refreshment, coolness, and joy through water. You will be re-energized through water. What do you do first when you wake up in the morning? do you wash How do you feel then? Don't wash your face. You'll be miserable all day. How about taking a shower or bath after a hard sweat and work, or after a workout? Water cleanses and cools us who are stuffy and dirty. So it brings vitality. Also, maybe it's because people have been in the water since they were in their mother's womb, but they don't know how much they love and miss water.
You human beings live on water all their lives. And life in search of water.
Today, God is speaking through water in the text.
First, human life is a life of searching for water, always going to draw water, like the woman at the well in today's text. Because in our life there are dirt and stuffiness that we want to wash away. Because there is a burning thirst. This is because the field of life is a wretched place like a wilderness and a place of pain in the throat like a desert. We have a political thirst. There is also a thirst for power and material possessions. There is also the thirst for art. There is a thirst for reason, a thirst for life and health, and a thirst for truth, salvation, and eternity.
To solve this thirst, each person is working hard and struggling today. When you look at politicians who are struggling by any means possible, you don't know how many people fall because they are thirsty for power. Also, there are surprisingly many people who are thirsty for money. People who have tasted it once are more thirsty. The more money you know, the more greedy you become.
The Samaritan woman in today's text came to the well in search of water that could not be solved in this life. She has been living in vain, seeking vain things. This woman came to draw water at about 6 o'clock, so it is 12 noon in our time, and at this time, copper women do not come to draw water. Because it was normal to draw water in the morning or in the evening when it was cool. This woman had five husbands and was still living with someone else's husband, so she came out alone in broad daylight. The well she found was Jacob's well outside of Sychar. This well is deep. Jacob's Well, which he dug, is not a spring of water, but a deep well that pools 100 feet below.
However, we do not know how many people today are wandering in search of this water. Why do you have a hard life? Why are you testing? Why are you wandering? Why are you struggling between illness and failure? Why are you discouraged and afraid? Because I'm going to dig a broken puddle. Like this Samaritan woman, it is a world that is too difficult to live in on my own. Water does not collect. When we eat together again, we are only thirsty. Therefore, we must again meet the Lord who is the source of living water. I still believe in myself. I'm digging a puddle of desert puddles. Now we have to find that living water. We need to find Jesus, the living water that cleanses our hearts, heals physical diseases, washes away sins, and gives us new vitality from tribulation, poverty, suffering and despair, and lifts us up.
Today, the Lord is inviting us to eternal living water.
?쏻hoever drinks the water I will give him will never thirst again, but the water I will give him will become in him a spring of water springing up to eternal life.??Revelation 21:6 also says Jesus. "I will give to those who thirst from the spring of the water of life freely..." Please believe that our Lord came to give us the true living water, the water that never thirsts. It is eternal water that springs up like a spring.
Our Lord is the source of the spring of living water (Rev 7:17, there is a fountain in heaven) and it is the living water itself. It is 'the water'. Our Lord came into this world as the fountain of that fountain. On the cross he poured out all his water and blood and said, ?쏧 am thirsty.??He personally experienced the thirst of life and solved all the burning thirst of mankind. "Blood like spring water is the blood of Immanuel..." Please believe that the blood washed away all sins and transgressions of the human spirit and body and gave us new life. That water is the grace and love of the Lord. The love of the cross. Agape love. Only the love of the Lord, that is, only grace, completely renews us, gives us new life and new vitality, and gives us new life, new power, and new life as a gift. Even those who are on the slopes will find a way when they meet the Lord, who is the living water of heaven and the living water of grace.
Everyone! There is a way. Even in this world like wilderness and desert, there is a way. The Lord said he would do it, and he did it again. "Behold! I will do a new thing. I will make roads in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, and out of the wilderness I will make rivers in the desert to give water to my people, my chosen ones to drink." Folks, Jesus is the way. He makes paths of living water and rivers. The Lord makes a spring of water spring from the rock in front of me. He leads me to the place of springs under the great rock. And he tells everyone to come to me. The Lord is my living water and your living water. When the Lord becomes our living water, we can be satisfied, restored, and blessed. You must cling to Jesus of love to receive this living water. You can receive the living water of Jesus.
Also, the Lord says, the net is the Holy Spirit. In John 7:37-38, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Bible says, out of his belly will flow rivers of living water," he was referring to the scriptures that those who believe in him should receive. You say. The Lord is still working the same yesterday, today, and forever through the Bible. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of our Lord, the Spirit of life of love and truth. This work of the Holy Spirit is the work of living water. We must be connected to the source of living water. Among the symbols of the Holy Spirit, the first is water. The work of the Holy Spirit that springs up like a spring and overflows like a river can only be tasted by faith. You can experience it. It is the Holy Spirit that those who believe will receive. It is received by faith. Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? I say. When you believe, the work of living water of the Holy Spirit springs up from your belly (from the depths of your heart).
When this work of the Holy Spirit overflows, Ezekiel 47 tells us that after 1,000 feet of water flowing out of the temple of God, we soaked our ankles, put them on our knees, and swam over our waists to our heads, and experienced complete freedom. I pray that you will live in the love of the Lord and in the power of the Holy Spirit to live your life as a person who always has eternal life.
