Title Those who heal broken hearts
Contents
Hymn: 138 "My Lord, King of Kings"
Meditation: Are you living with the healing of your broken heart from Jesus?
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
main text:"…He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of our God's vengeance, to comfort all those who mourn.. .” (Isa 61:1 3)
Word: The Messiah is the one who heals wounds. The Messiah is a prophet who “brings good news to the poor.” The Messiah is also a priest who “heals the brokenhearted.” The Messiah is at the same time a King who “proclaims liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners.” Are we experiencing the healing of our prophet, priest, and king, Jesus?
As our Messiah, Jesus gives us “the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of our God’s vengeance.” The Jubilee is the year in which freedom is proclaimed to all citizens. Jesus frees and heals those who are broken by sin, death, hell, Satan, and all problems in life. Jesus comes as the Holy Spirit and is always with us and heals us.
Sin is the cause of all hurt and sorrow. Jesus healed us by “bruising” for our sins. How can we experience the healing of Jesus? Jesus said, “He comforts all those who mourn and weep.”
If Jesus comforts us, we will experience joy and praise as a result. The Messiah “will give wreaths to those who mourn, to replace ashes, oil of joy for their sorrows, and garments of praise for their sorrows.” Jesus gives a wreath instead of ashes. He gives joy instead of sorrow. Instead of sorrow, he gives praise.
Do you have any heartache? Look to Jesus who heals. Because of Jesus, we experience greater comfort than sorrow. Because of Jesus, we experience greater encouragement than pain. Because of Jesus, we experience more grace than pain.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, through Jesus today, my broken heart may be healed. Let me experience joy instead of sorrow through Jesus. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
