To young people (1 Peter 5:5-7)
Peter is admonishing young people. We have hope because of young people, but sometimes we worry because it becomes a headache. However, we do not despair and pray for our children because God has entrusted us with them and nurtured them in faith.
In fact, young people sometimes ignore the experiences and experiences of older people. Young people sometimes criticize and rebel against the thinking of adults as outdated and outdated. However, young people should listen to the counsel of the Apostle Peter in today's Word.
First, it is obedience.
'Submitting to the elders'. The exhortation for the young is 'obedience' An obedient person can be a righteous person. You should seek advice or advice from someone who points out your faults and corrects your weaknesses.
The Bible tells us about obedience. ① Obedience is the obedience of children to their parents, (Ephesians 6:1) “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right” ② Obedience of a servant to his master (1 Peter 2) :18) (Ephesians 6:5) “Slaves, with fear and trembling, with sincerity in your heart, obey your masters of the flesh, as you do to Christ.” ② Obedience of wives to husbands (1 Peter 3:1) (Ephesians 5:22) Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord”, ③ Obedience of the people to the rulers (1 Peter 2:14) (Romans 13:1) “Let each one be subject to the superior authorities, and authority does not come from God. There is none; all authority is ordained of God.”
In the days of Rehoboam of the unified kingdom, the people asked the new king to reduce their labor. At that time, the elders of the country advised that if the labor was reduced, the people would respect King Rehoboam as they did King Solomon. But Rehoboam ignored the advice of the elders and accepted the advice of young people his age. He said, 'My father disciplined you with whips, but I will punish you with scorpions.' In other words, we are going to have tough politics. Then the hearts of the people left the king and did not recognize the king. In the end, only the tribes of Benjamin and Judah formed the southern kingdom of Judah, and the ten northern tribes formed the northern kingdom of Israel, and the nation was divided.
Young people should take and obey the advice and advice of adults. If Rehoboam had taken the advice of the elders, the tragedy of splitting his kingdom in two would not have occurred. Therefore, young people should obey the advice and teachings of adults without sneering at them. Then you will not have the trial and error of making mistakes with the advice of a person with extensive experience and experience in life.
Second, be humble.
In order to understand these words, we need to know about wearing the 'belt of humility'. People at that time wore full clothes, but without a belt, they could not work and it was inconvenient. This is an attitude of respecting and valuing others higher than yourself. (James 4:6), which is also quoted, "But he gives greater grace; therefore it is said, God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
God gives greater grace to the humble, and God defeats the proud. Water flows to the lower places and water accumulates in the lower places. The peak of pride cannot embrace Danbi and let it flow. When a person raises the peak of pride, he does not receive God's grace, let alone maintain it. Therefore, Peter exhorts young people to be humble.
When does the ear of rice bow its head? Isn't it time for the grains of rice to be full? I hope that your loved ones will now be humble and respectful of others and be humble and able to bow their heads. Then, when the time is right, God will exalt you. These words mean that if young people take lessons from the advice of adults and life experiences, and if they listen to the elders of faith and learn them well, they will later become seniors in a high position of respect, where they can teach and guide young people. there will be
Third, we must entrust our future.
Another fear for young people is anxiety about the future. The number of young people who are mentally unstable and need psychological treatment is increasing. Children these days grow up weak like those raised in a greenhouse, and they have the weakness of not being able to boldly create their own future on their own. In many cases, it appears as anxiety about the future and tries to fill it with something very worldly to hide the anxious appearance. Therefore, it is important for young people to entrust their lives to the Lord, including their anxiety about the future. (Matthew 6:25) "Therefore I say to you, do not worry for your life what you will eat or drink or what you will wear for your body. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" You must be able to remember the words. Also, Jesus said (Matthew 11:28), "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
As an elder in the faith, Peter gave three cautions and exhortations to the young. Those who have young people next to them encourage young people through religious counseling to instill a right view of life, and remember that it is the greatest responsibility of adults to lead them to faith so that they do not feel anxious or worried, and love, trust, and hope for them.
