Title Traveler's Note
Things to note for travelers
Text: Psalm 23:1-6
‘What was the most difficult part of the trip? Is it intense sunlight?' The traveler shook his head.
‘Is there not enough water?’ ‘Is this the part that doesn’t make sense?’
'Is it hard suffering?' 'Is the long night cold?'
The traveler said:
'That didn't bother me at all. The thing that bothered me the most was the tiny grains of sand in the shoe. He never fell for it!'
“He who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much” (Luke 16:10).
“And he gave another parable, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches” (Matt. 13: 31, 32)
We are travelers and sojourners in this world.
“Wide in fear while you are sojourners” (1 Peter 1:17).
“Beloved, I urge you, as strangers and passersby, to control the lusts of the flesh, which fight against the soul” (1 Peter 2:11).
The traveler must have a travel destination. You must have a purpose in life. Living by looking at the clock is important, but living by looking at the compass is even more important. Our goal in life should be to glorify God.
“If we live, we live for the Lord; if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s” (Romans 14:8).
The goal of Paul's life was to preach the gospel.
“I do not count even my life of any value as of any value, in order to finish the course I must run and the mission I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of God’s grace” (Acts 20:24).
In addition, you must have a guide (leader) who knows the destination well. In other words, it is important to meet a good leader (shepherd).
Let's read verse 1 together.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” Jesus is the Good Shepherd of our lives.
“I am the good shepherd, and the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:11).
There are times in life when we go through rough jungles and gloomy valleys in life where we cannot see the future. At this time, it is Jesus who guides our way and is with us.
Let's read verses 3 and 4 together.
“You restore my soul and lead me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff comfort me.
What should we keep in mind when embarking on the journey of life?
First of all, it is good to go with a good friend. Above all, when you go on a trip with your loved one, the trip will be enjoyable and joyful. Conversely, no matter how good a trip is, how can it be enjoyable if you go with your enemies?
Second, the load should be light. Don't bring a bunch of clothes or shoes you won't wear while traveling. Let the saints not carry the burden of sin heavy.
“Take no rucksack or two coats, sandals, or staff for travel, for the worker deserves his own food” (Matthew 10:10).
“Therefore, since we have a multitude of witnesses surrounding us like a cloud, putting off every burden and the sin that so easily entangles us, and with patience run the race set before us” (Hebrews 12:1)
Third, you must have a home to return to after your trip. Our hometown is the kingdom of God, and our citizenship is in heaven.
“If the earthly house of our tents is torn down, we know that we have a house that is made by God, an eternal house in heaven, not made with hands” (2 Corinthians 5:1).
Be prepared for what will happen when you return home. You can enter another country with a visa. But there is a period. If you do not return to your country even after the visa period is over, you are an illegal resident. There are so many beautiful places to visit when you travel. Lots of good food The joy that comes from an unfamiliar environment overflows. But no matter how good it is, you have to come back. it's like life Civilization develops and moves towards a truly convenient world. But we are travelers and travelers who have to go back.
“Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, their glory is in their shame, who cares about the things of the earth, but our citizenship is in heaven, from which we await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Phil. 3: 19, 20)
Let's look at verse 6.
“Goodness and kindness will surely follow me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”
What we must seek is eternal life and citizenship is in heaven. After traveling to the country of Korea, you must return to the country of heaven.
“I set the LORD always before me; I will not be moved because he is at my right hand” (Psalm 16:8).
Dear all! Life is like a stranger For humans, this earth is not a permanent place. Humans are people who live on this earth for a while and then leave everything behind and go to their heavenly hometown. You have to live knowing that. And each of us has a special purpose from God who sent him into this world as a stranger. You have to find the meaning and live by it. How do you live this stranger's life? I hope that you will prepare for an eternal tomorrow together with the church community by accepting Jesus as your Savior and following His guidance, holding hands and living a powerful life of a stranger.
* Prayer: Lord, who became my joy, my hope, and my life, let me live under your guidance until the day my life is over. May I live in Your forgiveness until the end of my life. May I live in Your love until the end of my life. Help me to depend on you until the day my life ends. May I live in Your providence until the end of my life. Help me to hope in the Lord until the day my life ends. May I have the joy of accomplishing Your will until the end of my life. When we are sojourners in the world, let us love the things of the world and do not become fools who pursue vain things, but let us live in the image of your holy Lord. Help us to testify of Jesus through our appearance. In the name of Jesus, who is our guide, we come to you. Amen
