In the Bible, you can see that the word about trumpets is recorded in several places. In particular, in the Old Testament era, Jews had a great feast called the Feast of Trumpets, which blows the trumpet to gather the people, blow the trumpet to announce the new year, and to hear the word of the Lord and start the new year with new determination and resolution.
So, when and how did someone blow the trumpet?
1. The trumpet was blown for a call (10:2)
The Israelites, God's people, often needed to gather before God. It is to receive God's direction and to worship God. The New Testament church blew the bell instead of the trumpet. The purpose was to announce the time, but the purpose was to inform the gathering. The church must be the trumpet of the gospel, and the saints must be the trumpet of the salvation of the world.
2. Blow the trumpet to advance (10:6)
The Israelites in the wilderness had not yet settled in the land where they were supposed to reside. They were on their way to the land to settle in, Canaan. Therefore, whenever God commands, you must leave the place you are staying and move forward. Grieg This advance command is to blow the trumpet. But the trumpet sound for advance was different from the trumpet sound for muster. The trumpet to signal progress had to be blown and blown long. The trumpet of the gospel of God must bring a great impression in the hearts of the saints.
3. Blow the trumpet for the battle (10:9)
The way God's people Israel goes out is the way God commands them to go. However, there were enemies blocking the way for Israel. We must yield and lose everything that happens in the world because of our flesh or our worldly desires, and strive for peace together. But, for my salvation, for the glory of God, I must not yield.
In the Old Testament times, the trumpets were blown by the priests, descendants of Aaron.
The sound of the trumpet sung through the priests is like the voice of God. Just as all the Israelites had to live by always listening to the sound of the trumpet no matter where and what they did, they must become saints who move according to God's word.
4. Finally, there is the sound of the trumpet of the Second Coming. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
In the future, when the archangel's trumpet sounds, everything on the earth will be judged for good or evil. I hope that we will be the saints who will be praised by the Lord when the trumpet of judgment sounds by blowing the trumpet of our mission well while we live on earth.
