Title [Turn Around]
2014. 11. 9 Sunday morning sermon
.
Bible: 2 Timothy 3:1-5
Title: Turn around
.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 ‘1. Know this, that in the last days the troubled times will come 2. People will love themselves, love money, boast, be proud, slander, disobey their parents, be unthankful, be unholy... 5. There is a form of godliness, but the power of godliness denies, turn away from such men.' - Amen.
.
The last days are the days of the coming of the Messiah in the Old Testament (Ezekiel 38:16), and the New Testament refers to the time until the Second Coming of Jesus. The image of sin in verses 2-4 of the text shows the very present age. We would like to hear the command to <turn around> in the social sentiments of the last days.
.
.
1. Face the sinful image of society
.
If you don't mind the wide-spread sins of the world and live in a similar way, you will die.
Believers also have the temperament of sin, and because they sin by being tested, they need to repent every day (John 13:8-10). If you believe in God, the sense of community will be restored (Acts 2:44-46).
.
In the last days, 1) love oneself, especially 2) love money (1 Tim 6:10), 3) boast, pride, slander others (1 Tim 6:4), 4) disobey parents, unthankful, and unholy (1 Tim. 1:9), 5) ruthless, unresolved (reconciliation), slanderous, and without temper, ferocious, not fond of good things, betrayal, impatience (Acts 19:36), conceit, and hedonism (Psalm 10). :3).
.
Matthew 24:37-39 ‘37. As it was in the days of Noah, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38. People were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day Noah entered the ark before the flood. like a beast' (Psalm 49:20, 'Those who do not understand are like beasts'
.
Sodom was judged with fire and brimstone.
Luke 17:28-30 '28. And it will be as in the days of Lot, people eating and drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building houses. 29 On the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from heaven and destroyed them. It will be like this on the day it appears.”)
.
In Noah's day, Genesis 6:5 'The Lord saw that the world was full of man's iniquity, and that all the plans of his heart were only evil always' (Genesis 8:21 '.. It's been evil since I was young...')
There were no 10 righteous people in Sodom, Genesis 13:13 “The men of Sodom were wicked and very sinners before the LORD” (extremely prosperous)
.
In the days of Noah, the world was full of sin (Genesis 6:5).
The social evils of the last days are, Revelation 18:5, “His sins reached to heaven..”
Among these sins, human beings live with Proverbs 7:13 ‘…a face that knows no shame…’.
How did you get to this point? He was born with the seed of sin, but it got worse and worse. Ecclesiastes 7:29 “God made man upright, but they have devised many schemes.”
How should we have a sense of history as a saint in these last days?
.
.
2. You must turn around (reform, sanctify)
.
When living in this world, the saints must make a distinction in everything, turn from the way of a sinful life, and turn their backs on such people. You cannot associate with such an idea.
.
2 Timothy 3:5 “There is a form of godliness, but it denies the power of godliness. Turn away from such people” or “turn away” means “turn your back”. To the saints in the last days, Revelation 18:4 “Come out of her, my people, and do not share in her sins, and do not receive the plagues she will receive.”
In a nutshell, today's social consciousness is that people are crazy about the world.
.
Ecclesiastes 9:3 "...the hearts of men are full of evil, and they cherish madness all their days, and afterward they return to the dead."
The water judgment or the fire judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah is not an old story of another country.
.
2 Peter 2:6 It is said that “…to set an example for those who would later be ungodly.” When I speak of this judgment, people today, like Noah's sons-in-law, look down on it and consider it a joke (Gen 19:14)
Isaiah 1:5 “Why do you repeat rebellion in order to be beaten even more?”
.
In the last days, it will get worse and the saints will be defiled in many ways. In this generation, I pray that the movement to turn around will take place every day to become saints who are worthy in the Lord's sight and obtain spiritual peace.
