two responses
(July 26, 2009) (1 Samuel 2:18~21)
A bet was waged on Mount Carmel.
850 idol worshipers trying to kill the prophet Elijah and the prophet Elijah being attacked by them
Their fight wasn't a sword fight or a spear fight - it was a spiritual fight.
Who believes in the God who answers? Whoever believes in any god gets answers? was the fight of
The first 850 idol worshipers made sacrifices to their god all day long, but they didn't get a response because the god they believed in was not a novelty.
But when Elijah offered a sacrifice to God, God answered Elijah's sacrifice.
Elijah, the true believer in the true God, received an answer, and the idolaters who believed in the false god died without receiving any answers.
I pray that you will become believers who receive answers like the prophet Elijah.
Hannah, the woman who appears in today's text, was also a believer who received answers from God. - I pray that all the members of the Kyungil Church worshiping today will receive answers like Elijah and Hannah.
1. Answers to prayers.
Do you want to receive answers from God? Please pray. - God gives answers to those who pray. - Hannah was a person who prayed, a person who answered prayers.
1) Hannah's prayer posture.
(James 4:2) - “You lust, and you have not, you murder, you envy, but you cannot get, so you fight and fight. You do not have because you do not ask.” Please keep in mind the saying that you will not get it because you do not do it, and pray hard.
Hannah was a praying man. He was the one who received answers to prayers. - What kind of prayer did Hannah pray?
(1:11) “I made a vow and said, “O LORD of hosts, if you will look on your maidservant’s affliction and remember me and not forget your maidservant, but give your maidservant a son, I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and put a razor on his head I will not do it.”
① We must pray the necessary prayers.
(James 4:3) -“You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly to spend it on your passions”-
You may not get anything because you do not pray - you may pray but you may not get what you prayed for - The reason is because you ask for the wrong thing with the wrong purpose.
If you ask for what you need with the right purpose, God will answer you.
*Hannah was old, but she had no children. I wanted to have children before I was older. - He was despised for having no children and wept. - So he prayed for only one child.
How sad it must have been for a person who was despised for not having children to long for a child.
God does not turn away when we pray for the minimum we need.
I hope you too will find what you need and pray for it. - So please respond.
② We must pray earnestly.
(1:10) - “Hannah was troubled and prayed to the Lord and wept” - When a childless woman prayed for a child - She did not pray that it was okay to give it to her - She prayed that she would not give it to her. I prayed while telling the pain as it is. I prayed while weeping.
God did not turn away from Hannah as she wept and prayed with a broken heart.
③ I made a vow and prayed.
When we built our church, the construction cost was insufficient. At that time, I took the land as collateral and borrowed money.
I wouldn't have loaned it without collateral, but I borrowed money without difficulty because I left it as collateral.
When Hannah prayed, she prayed while vowing that if she gave her a son, she would offer it to God as a servant of God, and God answered that vow.
* Instead of asking for a bunch of prayers - If you receive an answer, please pray while making a vow that you will be faithful.
2) Answers to prayers.
Knowing what she needed, she prayed earnestly, but God answered Hannah, who prayed while making a vow.
(1:20) - “Hannah became pregnant and the time came, and she gave birth to a son and named him Samuel, because it was said that I had sought him from the Lord.”
The answer to prayer is the answer you give as you ask. - Pray and pray for answers.
2. Response of Loyalty.
Prayer is a request for something - but loyalty is a sincerity offered, not a request.
There are answers that you get by asking for it, but believe that you will be blessed if you are faithful even if you do not ask for it.
1) Hannah's loyalty.
Hannah prayed for a son and gave birth to a son not because she was so grateful for the answer that she asked for more and she was unconditionally loyal.
① Loyalty to keep vows.
(1:28) - “Therefore, I also give him to the LORD, and all his days I give him to the LORD.” And he worshiped the LORD there.” I gave. I gave my whole life. I am not someone who makes a vow when in a hurry and forgets when it is convenient. - When I prayed, I paid my vows after receiving answers to my vows. - That is loyalty.
② Loyalty with constant faith.
(2:19) - “Every time his mother went up with her husband to offer the annual sacrifice, she made a small robe and gave it to him.” built - It was unchanging loyalty to God and constant loyalty to the priest. - God is pleased with your constant loyalty. - Please continue to pray for holy water every week.
③The loyalty that moved the priest.
Priests are God's ambassadors who were set up by God to entrust God's work.
Therefore, if you please the priest, God is pleased.
(2:20) - "Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, saying, "May the Lord give you another heir by way of this woman, that he may take the place of the son whom the Lord sought and obtained from him.
The priest was moved by the loyalty of Elkanah and Hannah - so the priest blessed him.
2) Response to loyalty.
Hannah, who paid her vows, was faithful with her faith, and moved the priest, was blessed with her loyalty.
(2:21) - “The LORD took care of Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters, and the child Samuel grew up before the LORD.”
① You will receive greater blessings that you have already received.
Please believe that Samuel, the eldest son, who has already received an answer to prayer, has grown beautifully before God and became a great prophet and a great priest.
② You will receive an unexpected prize.
The answer I received from prayer was only Samuel - but what I gained through loyalty were three sons and two daughters.
*The answer to prayer is - the blessing of asking for it. The blessing he received was one Samuel.
*The answer to loyalty is a blessing that exceeds expectations. - I was blessed to have five more children, five times as many as the one I did not ask for but the one I received.
Dear saints, pray - I pray that you will be answered as you pray.
I pray that you will receive more blessings than expected by being faithful.
