Title What is the Law?

Contents

“Know this, that the law was not made for the upright, but the lawless and the disobedient, the ungodly and the sinner, the ungodly and the profane, those who beat their fathers and those who attack their mothers, and those who murder. For those who sleep and fornicators, sexual immorality, robbers, liars, swearing falsehoods, and others who violate sound doctrine” (1 Timothy 1:9-10), the law is a terrible thing for sinners. . That is why it is said, “And that he might release all those who were bound by their lifelong bondage for fear of death” (Hebrews 2:15), which is the “everlasting gospel”.

If you follow the law, no one will ever live before God. The Word of Evidence states, “Because we know that a person is not justified by works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ, we also believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified not by works of the law but by faith in Christ. For by the works of the law there is no flesh to be justified” (Galatians 2:16).

Then why was the law given? Was the law only given to the Jews?

Although the Law was given through Moses (John 1:17), it was not only given to the Jews. Let's look at the recorded evidence. “A bruise for a break, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. As you injure another, you will do it to him. Whoever slays an animal will bite it, and whoever kills a man shall put to death. The same law shall be applied to foreigners and natives. For I am the Lord your God” (Leviticus 24:20-22). Man has a conscience before the law. Even conscience can discern sin. But without the law and the commandments, sin cannot be condemned.

The apostle Paul said, “What shall we say then, is the law a sin? It cannot be. I knew no sin except through the law, that if the law had not said, ‘You shall not covet, I would not have known covetousness. I took the opportunity to fulfill all kinds of covetousness in me through the commandment, for, without the law, sin is dead. Formerly, when the law was not understood, I lived; but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.” (Romans 7:7-9) is proving that.

Human nature is "covetous". Conscience does not recognize this as a sin. Among the Ten Commandments of the Law given through Moses, there is a commandment, "You shall not covet." We also refer to "greed" as "desire". Without a "need", you are not a person. However, the last of the ten commandments is “You shall not covet”, which denies the nature of man. Here is the tenth commandment: “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor” (Exodus 20: 17) has been recorded. This is a law that cannot be followed by any human being. This is not a law to keep, but a law to die in front of it. That's right. So the law is the steward (servant) who leads (leads) us to Christ to kill us.

Covetousness, or greed, is the essence of sin. It is the same as it is written, “When lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death” (James 1:15). Also, covetousness is the same as the sin of worshiping idols. (Colossians 3:5) “No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and riches” (Luke 16). :13) As it is written, the object of covetousness is the object of service.

It has been known that if we keep all the laws, we will live by it. But the law is not a law that makes people live, it is a law that kills. It is written, "Is the law then against the promises of God? It can never be. If a law had been given that was able to live, then righteousness must have come through the law" (Galatians 3:21). He satisfied us to be workers, not by question, but by the Spirit, for doubt kills, but the Spirit gives life” (2 Corinthians 3:6).

He also testifies, “The commandment, which was to lead to life, was to me rather death. For sin took an opportunity to deceive me through the commandment, and through it killed me, so that the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good. Did what was good then become death to me? It cannot be so, but that sin made me to die through it that was good for the sake of guilt, so that through the commandment sin might become very sinful” (Romans 7:10-13). It is a covenant that was established to make sin very sinful, and it is a tutor (steward, servant) teacher who leads to death.

Because it was added because of transgression, Moses' office is that of condemnation. As it is written, For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, the ministry of righteousness abounds in glory” (2 Corinthians 3:9).

Moses was faithful "as a servant in all the house of God" for condemnation, and Christ was faithful "as a son over his house" for righteousness. It is written, "Moses was also faithful as a servant in all the house of God, to testify of what was to come; and Christ was faithful as the son of his household; and it is his house, if we hold fast to the boldness and boasting of hope to the end" (Hebrews 3: 5-6) It is the same thing.

“Cursed are all those who are of the works of the law, for it is written, Cursed is anyone who does not always do all the things that are written in the book of the law” (Galatians 3:10). He hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for The tree is the cross.

Why did doubt (the law) become the enemy of man? This is because they clearly condemn those who break the law and try to put them to death by hanging them on a tree (cross). Because it is trying to kill the sinner, the question (the law) becomes the enemy of the sinner (man).

And the law speaks to men.

“As it is written, There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God; all have turned aside, one way has become useless, and there is none who does good, not even one. Their throats are open graves, and with their tongue they practice deceit, and on their lips the poison of vipers is on their lips. and their mouths are full of curses and bitterness, and their feet are swift to shed blood; destruction and trouble are in their way, and they have not known the way of peace, and there is no fear of God before their eyes. But whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may be brought under the judgment of God. ’ (Romans 3:10-20) Because there is no one without sin.

Curse of the Law! Cursed is everyone who hangs on the tree (the cross)! This is the end of the law. For those of this world to take revenge is to kill the enemy, but for those who are in the other world to take revenge is to die This is the way of the cross. Christ Jesus, who preceded this, clearly testified and accomplished it. He himself said, "...If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23). is.

The law of the Spirit of life freed us from the law of sin and death from the body of death that had been imprisoned with hope in those words, "Now there is a remnant by the election of grace." As it is written, “You prisoners with hope, you shall return with a guarantee; I say today, I will repay you twice as much” (Zechariah 9:12).

His people, whom God foreknew, are now new creatures, whose old man died to the law through the law and was raised to a new man to God. They are the children of the true God who testify together with the apostle Paul, "The old things have passed away; behold, the new has come." “That you may walk in new life” is now fulfilled.

Therefore, “What then is the law? It was added because of transgression, and it was given by intercessors through angels, and the promised offspring shall remain until the coming” (Galatians 3:19). It is only until you are nailed to the cross with your descendants (Jesus). Not by the law of sin, but only by the law of faith. “...Everything not of faith is sin” (Romans 14:23), and the Lord Himself testified, “When he comes, he will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. “Again, because they do not believe in me” (John 16:8-9).

Therefore, concerning the law, the Bible says: “(The law cannot make anything perfect) and there is a better hope, through which we draw near to God.”

(Heb 7:19)

“The law made priests with weakness, but the word of the oath after the law is

He hath appointed a son perfected for ever” (Hebrews 7:28).

“He did not follow the law of commandments pertaining to the flesh, but according to the infinite power of life, for you testify that you are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. This will bring us a better hope, through which we draw near to God” (Hebrews 7:16-19).

We give thanks and praise to God our Father, who enlightens us by the Spirit of truth who sent us what the law is. Amen.
