Title What is true faith? (2 Kings 2:1~22)
Contents
The text records what happened in Elijah's relationship with Elisha, his disciple, in the process of ascending alive after crossing the Jordan River after passing "Gilgal", "Bethel" and "Jericho". But what is true faith?
It is not a “Gilgal” faith.
① “Gilgal” is a place where Israel, who was going through the wilderness to Canaan after the Exodus, ate manna given down from heaven as food until they reached “Gilgal,” and it was a place where they ate the produce of the earth from Gilgal. ② This is an erroneous belief in which regenerated saints live in obedience to God's Word, receive God's general grace, and be satisfied with the abundance of food, clothing, and clothing as their whole purpose. ③ This is the lowest level of faith in the Christian faith, where you plant things of the flesh for the sake of the flesh and reap only perishable things. ④ Because it is centered on the flesh and the world, it is a false shell of faith that ends with the world without any eternal fortune as faith is passive. ⑤ If you remain in this belief, you will perish.
It is not a “Bethel” faith.
① "Bethel" is the place where Abraham, the father of faith, built an altar when he came to the land of Canaan in obedience to God's command. to be. ② “Bethel” faith is a false faith that does not correct the purpose of the faith that rests on it by receiving great blessings and power from God and making great outward success as the goal of faith. ③ The seminary and the prophets in Bethel belonged to this dimension of faith, namely, worldism, carnalism, belief in ups and downs, complacency, secularism, and humanistic faith. ④ Elisha resisted the delusions of these people.
It is not a “Jerith” faith.
① “Jericho” is the place where God’s supernatural power overthrew Jericho, which was like an impenetrable fortress, and won. ② The Jericho faith is an erroneous faith that casts out demons, heals diseases, acts as a prophet, and performs great miracles by receiving God's great power and authority. ③ The graces of Gilgal, Bethel, and Jericho are means, materials, means, and shells for accomplishing the purpose of faith. ④ The purpose of true faith is to achieve sanctification of the body by being inspired and united with God to be holy, pure and perfect like God. ⑤ Jericho's faith is "Depart from me, you who practice this lawlessness" (Matthew 7:21-23), and the Lord is forsaken.
“It is faith that crosses the Jordan River.”
① At that time, Elijah was a powerful authority to establish the kings of the Gentiles and Israel, and the prophets (1 Kings 19:15~16) ② When Elijah asked what he wanted to do to Elisha, who had crossed the Jordan River, worldly wealth, honor, authority, and glory He did not ask for God, but with double inspiration, he sought to become a complete person as a man of God, and a perfect person to do all good works. ③ Bethel and Jericho overcame the delusion of the profane prophets, left themselves and the world behind, and crossed the Jordan River, the death line, and received double inspiration. ④ When inspiration comes, it kills the lusts, temperament, emotions, stubbornness, desires, and attachments of the earth.
“It is the faith that seeks double inspiration.”
① Just as only Elisha succeeded in salvation, there are very few people who have succeeded in salvation at the Second Coming of the Lord. ② At that time, everyone failed and only Elisha succeeded because the purpose of their faith was earthly things and Elisha was in spiritual things full of inspiration like Elijah.
