Subject: As long as you live

Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1-11, John 9:1-7

The path of life is said to be mysterious and unpredictable. Clearly there is a beginning and an end, but it is a life path without preparation or review. This requires trial and error and mistakes. It cannot be without Heo-Dong Dam and the right and left. This is a poem by Wislava Szymborski, a Polish native who won the 1996 Nobel Prize in Literature. 'Nothing happens twice, and nothing happens twice. That is why/we are born without practice and die without practice./No day repeats/no two nights that resemble each other./No two same kisses/no two same eye contact.' Everyone is each. It's a separate life. Of course, there are similarities and similarities, but there is no similarity. How to live right? What would the ideal life be like in this life? There are words to help.

These are the words of Alfred D. Susie. ‘Dance! Love/Like no one is watching! As if you've never been hurt./Sing! As if no one was listening./Work! As if you don't need money./Live! As if today is the last day.’ There is a background to this realization. ‘For a long time I believed that the real life would soon begin./But there were always all sorts of bang seafood and trifles in front of me/I had unfinished business and debts to be paid. I believed that real life would unfold after all these things were done./But eventually I realized. That such obstacles and trivial things were my life.’ It gauges the narrator's life's journey. Wandering came first and enlightenment came after.

The Old Testament text (Ecclesiastes 3:1-11) is also an expression of enlightenment. It is different from other experiences. Jehovah's faith. The ruler of life is not man, but God. It is good to recite “God created all things…the longing for eternity…that no man can measure” (verse 11). Because it becomes a point of meditation. The conclusion we get through meditation on the Word is verses 12-14. Based on your faith in God, you should strive to practice it “while you live.” It's something to train. You will live your best life. The New Testament text (John 9:1-7) is an explanation of the theme of the Gospel of John, “gaining life” (John 20:31). It is the sixth sign among the seven signs and is related to the second ‘light of the world’ (John 8:12) of the seven declarations. The life that the saints enjoy is not 'just being alive', but 'a taste and enjoyment of a qualitatively different heavenly life'.

The taste and enjoyment of this heavenly life is the task of this life. “The good that God is doing” (Romans 8:28) is our resemblance to Jesus (Romans 8:29,30). The experience of resemblance is that you are born again (John 3:3,5). It is the process of sanctification. The words of Kabir, nicknamed ‘Jesus of the East’. ‘Welcome guests while you are alive/Dive into the experience while you are alive/Understand life while you are alive. What you call salvation/Can only be done before death/If you don't break the ropes while you are alive/How will you be free after death? It is a great misconception that the soul/soul can be united with God only after the body has decayed. Find him now./If you don't find him now/The only place you will go to is the city of death/Be one with him right here and now/Become one with him after this.'
