Hymn: Chapter 96 (all 94) 'Who is Jesus?'
Meditation: Saints are people who are saved by believing in Jesus and live by faith. Therefore, knowing Jesus rightly is the basis of the life of faith.
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: "He said to him, "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:15-16).
At that time, it was a social common belief and a generalized religious sentiment that the Messiah promised in the Old Testament would come. During his three years of public life, Jesus showed the image of the Messiah promised in the Old Testament through his actions. It was the work of healing the sick, casting out demons, and raising the dead. These signs were not for the purpose of miracles, but were revelations that testified that Jesus was the promised Messiah to come. However, the knowledge about Jesus that people had at that time was not correct.
In the text, Jesus asks the disciples who have seen, learned, and experienced Jesus while living together for three years. Peter's answer to this was correct. "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (verse 16), that is, 'Jesus is the very Messiah (Savior) God promised to come through the prophets' is an accurate confession. Therefore, Jesus said to Peter, “Blessed is flesh and blood, and my Father in heaven, who made this known to you” (verse 17), so faith is not human wisdom.
Dear saints, A right knowledge of Jesus leads to a right life. There are always two views of Jesus. It is the perspective of the people and the perspective of the disciples. "Who do you say I am?" “Yes, Jesus is my Savior.” When the confession to the Lord is clear like this, faith grows healthy.
Prayer: Praise Jesus my Savior and believe in our Lord. Lord, help us to know and believe in You as our Savior and live our lives according to Your guidance so that we can live healthy Christians. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
