Title Who is your master? /Proverbs 25:13
Content Title: Who is your master?
Text / Proverbs 25:13
“A faithful messenger is like ice-cold water in the harvest day to the one who sent him, able to cool the heart of his master” (Proverbs 25:13).
I. Example
Do you believe in who your true master is? Some people are, of course, Jesus. Others live with the master of material things, others live with honor as their master, and others live with their hobbies as their master.
Spirit- Lord Master, The Lord God
Hel-‘Kurios’ κυριο - Owner of Possessor
3) There is a principle that must be observed when serving the master (Matthew 6:24).
“No man can serve two masters; either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other, for you cannot serve both God and riches” (Matthew 6:24).
II. In the Bible, the title of the master is called three times.
1) When I call my husband (Genesis 18:12)
“Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “I am old, and my master is old, how can I be happy?” (Genesis 18:12).
2) When giving titles to masters (Genesis 24:9-10)
9 Then the servant put his hand under the hip bone of his master Abraham, and made an oath to him about this. 10 Then the servant took ten camels from his master and left, and immediately he took all his master's good things and went to Mesopotamia, came to the city (Genesis 24:9-10)”
3) They called God and the Lord their masters (Matthew 13:27; 12:8).
“The housekeeper’s servants came and said, “Lord, have you not planted good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from?” (Matthew 13:27)
“The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” (Matthew 12:8)
The core of the Word means that the believer must live with God, the Lord, and the Holy Spirit, who are the true masters, as masters in their hearts.
Ⅲ. How should a servant who has the Lord as his master live?
1) A faithful servant must cool his master's heart (Proverbs 25:13).
“A faithful messenger is like ice-cold water on a harvest day to the one who sent him, able to cool his master’s heart” (Proverbs 25:13).
Sent a messenger - sent on a mission to do something important. The owner welcomes you with joy when you return from fulfilling this mission faithfully.
2) Even if the owner's property is to be blessed, it should not be wasted (Luke 16:1-3, Genesis 39:2-3).
1 And he said to his disciples, "There is a rich man who has a steward, and his master heard that he is wasting his master's possessions. 2 The master called him and said, "What is this that I have heard of you? Count what you have seen. 3 The steward said to himself, “The master has taken away my office. What shall I do? We have no strength to dig, and it is shameful to pray.” (Luke 16:1-3)
“2 Because the LORD was with Joseph, he prospered, and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and he saw that the LORD prospered in all things (Genesis 39:2-3). )” Joseph made his master’s house rich.
3) You must obey and honor yourself (Mal 1:6,8).
“O priests who despise my name, I, the LORD of hosts, say to you, A son honors his father, and a servant honors his master. If I am a father, where is my honor? If I am a master, where is my fear? says, “How have we despised your name?” (Malachi 1:6).
“How is it not evil when you offer sacrifices to the blind, says the LORD of hosts, and how is it not evil to offer sacrifices to the lame or the sick? 」
IV. The result of the saints refreshing the heart of the master
1) You will receive glorious grace (Proverbs 27:18).
“He that guards the fig tree eats its fruit, and he who ministers to his master finds honor” (Proverbs 27:18).
2) Entrusting them with great things (progression and honor) (Matthew 25:21).
“His master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant, since you have been faithful over little things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:21)
3) You will participate in the master's glorious feast (Matthew 25:21).
“His master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant, since you have been faithful over little things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:21)
