This passage from Matthew describes Jesus Christ as the son of both David and Abraham.

Matthew 1:2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac was the father of Jacob, and Jacob was the father of Judas and his siblings.

Matthew 1:3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

A good sermon from this passage is about the lineage of Jesus Christ, tracing it through Judas, Phares, Zara, Esrom, and Aram.

Matthew 1:4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;

Salmon was the progenitor of a good sermon.

Matthew 1:5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

This passage from Matthew 1:5 tells of the lineage of Jesus, tracing it back through Salmon, Booz, Obed, and Jesse.

Matthew 1:6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

The genealogy of Jesus Christ begins with Jesse, who begat David the king, and David the king begat Solomon of Urias's wife.

Matthew 1:7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;

Asa's sermon is a good example of a sermon, demonstrating God's faithfulness to his people throughout history.

The passage is a genealogy of four generations, beginning with Ozias and ending with Ezekias.

Matthew 1:11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

Josias was the father of Jechonias and his brethren around the time they were taken captive to Babylon.

Matthew 1:12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;

A good sermon from this passage is that God can bring hope even in the darkest of times, as seen in how He restored the exiles in Babylon through Salathiel and Zorobabel.

Matthew 1:13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

Matthew 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

Joseph, a just man, chose to privately divorce Mary rather than publicly humiliate her.

Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Joseph's fear of taking Mary as his wife was alleviated by the angels' assurance that she was carrying a child of the Holy Ghost.
