Malachi 4

Malachi 4:1: “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.”
Commentary: This verse is a warning from the Lord that all those who are proud and do wickedly will be destroyed and consumed like stubble in a hot oven.

Malachi 4:2: “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”
Commentary: This verse is a promise that those who fear the Lord will be blessed with the healing and protection of the Sun of Righteousness. They will go forth and prosper.

Malachi 4:3: “And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Commentary: This verse is a promise that the wicked will be destroyed and trampled underfoot. The Lord will bring justice to those who have done wrong.

Malachi 4:4: “Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.”
Commentary: This verse is a reminder to remember the laws of Moses and to obey them. The Lord commanded them to follow the statutes and judgments in Horeb for all Israel.

Malachi 4:5: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:”
Commentary: God promised to send Elijah the prophet before the day of judgment to prepare the people for what was to come. Elijah here refers to John the Baptist. This is a reminder that God is always faithful and will always provide the help and guidance we need.

Malachi 4:6: “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”
Commentary: Malachi is prophesying that Jesus will turn the hearts of the fathers and the children to each other, in order to prevent the Lord from coming and cursing the earth.
