How to Serve God/Hebrews 12:28
A member of the church who had just started living in faith came home late because of a church meeting. My husband was not a believer, so the members of the district were worried, but he calmly overcame the difficulties and later evangelized. The believer had a heart that said, “It is small, but I had a heart to live for the Lord, and I do not have faith to hope for easy things, but if there are no difficulties, there is no testimony.”
Dear saints, what is the reason why you cannot overcome your own pain while living your life of faith? It is because they lack the passion to live for God. If a person who had a good life of faith suddenly gets hurt for some reason and quits everything, it must be because his self-esteem is still greater than his desire to live for the Lord.
Then, what makes a life of solid faith possible? It is to have reverence and fear. “Therefore, since we have received a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptablely with reverence and reverence” (Hebrews 12:28).
First of all, godliness is the foundation of faith. Boldness to serve God comes from deep fellowship with God and godliness. Through godliness, God gives us the ability to overcome ourselves and live. Through godliness, we can know the heart, grace, and power of God.
If you lose your godliness, your devotion and service become actions you do in front of people other than God, and you become a prisoner of your situation. When the disciples of Jesus lost the life of godliness, they only fought for a big place, but after experiencing the time of deep fellowship with the Lord, they became bold preachers of the Lord.
Second, fear. Those who serve God with fear are those who believe that the driving force is not in themselves, but because God has given them a chance and gave them strength. God told Abraham to sacrifice his son, whom he had at the age of 100, as a burnt offering on Mount Moriah. The most precious thing to Abraham was probably his son Isaac. No matter how precious it is, God must protect it (Genesis 22). This is because those who serve God only according to their own thoughts for a while and eventually turn their backs on them do not fear that they will fall even now if God withdraws His grace.
