Title I announce a new day (2014.1.5)
Date: 2014.1.5
Word: Isaiah 42:1-9
Title: I Announce a New Day
The people of Israel were living in despair as they were captives to Babylon because of their sins. God sent Cyrus of Pasa to bring them to liberation. However, Cyrus acted as Israel's savior, but he was only a symbol of the coming Messiah. No, the Messiah God sent for the people of Israel was Jesus Christ.
The new work in today's text seems to speak of the dramatic deliverance of Israel, but it is a prophecy of the true Messiah, Jesus Christ.
This year should be the year God uses us. The text says that God's salvation of mankind will be realized through "My servant whom I hold on to, my chosen one with whom I am well pleased" (verse 1). Isaiah gives a detailed description of who Jesus is. First, our Lord was truly meek and humble, as in these words, "He does not cry, nor raise his voice, nor hear his voice in the streets." He will not break a reed, nor a smoldering lamp he will put out. The truth will bring justice.” Third, he explains, “He will not fade, he will not become discouraged, and he will establish justice in the world. It should be the year of being used by God.
It should be a year filled with the Holy Spirit of God. God said through Isaiah, “I have given him my Spirit” (verse 1). The Holy Spirit not only enlightens us, but makes us able to live as servants of the Lord. In order to perform the Lord's work, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit.
God will do new things through our weakness. God always accomplishes new things beyond our thoughts and intentions. God has given us a dream of a “new thing” too. It is a mission to save souls and a passion for the given church of God. Dear saints! Being used by God is the happiest life.
He promises a tremendous blessing to us as God's people. He promises to hold hands and protect me, you, and my children. He uses them not only for eternal salvation, but also as a light for the Gentiles. It is said to lead you to the light.
