Title Imitating Christ / Philippians 2
Content Imitating Christ
Philippians 2
1. Have the mind of Christ (1-11)
① Advice on unity
(1) In order for the church to achieve the virtue of unity, it should comfort and exhort one another with the same heart and the same love centered on Christ.
(2) In order to achieve unity, each must possess the virtue of humility, valuing others as superior to themselves and helping each other. In other words, we must give up selfishness and vanity, respect others, do not focus on our own work, but also take care of others.
② In order to increase persuasiveness, Paul, who urged us to serve one another with humility in the most fundamental way to become one, introduces the humility of Christ as the best example. The life of Christ was a life of humility. Although he was God by nature, he emptied the image of God and took on the image of a servant. He humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death.
③ A name that stands out above all names
Some say it is foolish to be humbled, but God's mysterious providence works beyond human wisdom. Although the cross of Jesus was a laughing stock to fools, God raised him up and took him to heaven, and crowned him with glory and honor.
2. Work out your salvation (12-18)
① Sanctification and Salvation
Paul, who is admonishing the children of faith in prison, is always pleading with fear and trembling in their hearts to work hard to achieve their own salvation.
② Living worthy of the Gospel
Those who have been saved must live worthy of the gospel of Christ not only in the church, but also in the world. To appear as light in a dark world. We must have a pure appearance without blemish or blemish before God.
③ The appearance of a true shepherd
[KJV] 2:17 If I offer myself as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I will rejoice and rejoice with all of you.
[English Translation] 2:17 For the sacrifices and sacrifices of your faith, I will pour out my blood on them, and I will rejoice in them. No, I will rejoice with you.
[New Standard Version] 2:17 And even if my blood is poured out on the sacrifices and worship services of your faith, I will rejoice and I will rejoice with you all.
3. Paul's plans for future ministry (19-30)
① Paul’s sense of partnership
A sense of being a partner for the gospel.
② Faithful co-workers
③ Paul’s assurance that he will be released
