“…this Obadiah greatly feared the Lord…” (1 Kings 18:1-6)
It's important for a good child to handle everything well at home, but parents are happy when they go out into the world and do everything right. Likewise, believers are not only those who do well in the church, but those who fulfill their roles well in the world become influential leaders. I spend far more time in the world than I do in church. That's why you have to become a person who lives and influences the world. To be such an influential leader, you must have a clear attitude.
First, influential leaders are those who fear God. I see many people living their lives without fearing God or serving God rightly because they do not know God rightly. To say that you cannot serve God right away means that God's influence will eventually disappear in your life.
Obadiah in today's text is a man who served as a minister in the palace during the reign of King Ahab of the northern kingdom of Israel. Obadiah was a leader. He was a man who lived and showed the influence of God in the world. When leaders in the world stand upright, they can radiate the fragrance of Christ and exert influence in the world. We need leaders like Elijah in our day. However, God does not only use people like Elijah in our day today. He uses people like Obadiah more and more.
Obadiah is described as a man of great faith. It is a person who fears God greatly. But the king he was serving, Ahab, was an idolater. How difficult and difficult it must be to say that you are working for someone who worships idols. Obadiah was able to have good faith in a difficult environment because he was filled with the fear of God in his heart.
When he lived while fulfilling the mission given to him with this faith, he was able to influence many people at the time. The same wonderful influence must flow into the world in our lives today. And with that influence, we must change the world.
