Isaiah 6:1-8
What kind of prayer should we give to God? We want to realize together through the prayer of Isaiah.
First, that prayer is a prayer of repentance. There are two most important events we experience in life. One is the event of salvation, and the other is the event of calling. First, “Are you saved?” What could be a more important question in life? What is the next most important thing after this incident? It would be, “What is your calling?” Because this question is the same as the question, “What are you living for?”
But for both of these things, we must offer a prayer of repentance in common. Why? Because both events happen when you meet God. Meeting a holy God can have very serious consequences. This is because sinners must prepare themselves for judgment when they stand before God.
As Isaiah was praying in the temple, he heard the angels singing praises. Isaiah finds himself standing before a holy God. And immediately fall down and offer a prayer of repentance. Why does God require a prayer of repentance when receiving a calling? There is another reason. It is because God can use it only when it is holy. What if the one who is to be an instrument in the hands of a holy God is not holy?
