05:13-18 Prayer changes history
It is said that the power that our Christianity has changed the world is prayer. In order to save the fallen human history, Jesus Christ, who became flesh and came to the harsh field of history, began with prayer, proceeded with prayer, and ended with prayer.
Prayer changes our history. What kind of prayer can change history?
First, it is called the prayer of faith. Verse 15 says, “The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”
People who pray are usually classified into three types of attitudes of faith. There are those who pray with confidence, those who pray with doubts, and those who pray with doubts. But we must believe and pray in God who hears and answers prayers and changes our history.
Second, it is called the prayer of the righteous. Verse 16 says, "Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous has great power at work."
That's right. We have prayed up until now, but we have to examine deeply to see why there is no answer to my prayers. This is because the prayers of sinners are not heard, but the prayers of the righteous.
We believe that if we repent and receive forgiveness of sins, then obey God's Word, and trust God alone, we will become righteous and our prayers will have the power to receive God's answers and change history.
Third, it is called earnest prayer. Verse 17 says, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.
It is said that God does not listen to formal prayers that are repeated over and over, but hears and answers earnest prayers and changes history.
This is a prayer with the wretched determination that if you die like Esther, you will die.
Like Elijah, it is a decisive prayer offered at the risk of his life. Such earnest prayer changes our history.
