Sermons for Preaching

Title Jonah 01:1-2 Nineveh and Tarshish

Contents Jonah 1:1~2

In this day and age, those who have been called by God do not want to go to Nineveh, but want to go to Tarshish. There are still many people on this earth who do not know God well, but there are many people like Jonah who are interested in other places. Those who are supposed to live as servants of the Lord must do what God likes, but at some point they have turned into human people who do what Satan the devil likes. We have to live with a heart that sleeps every day whether the devil is doing what the devil likes and is not claiming to be doing God's work.

Now, the earth is as corrupt as it will fall, just like Nineveh. They may be as corrupt as Sodom and Gomorrah. It seems that the situation was just before the sulfur fire fell. We may be living in an age full of evil, such as the days of Noah.

Those who must carry out Jonah's mission at this time have a mission to call for repentance. To do so, we must stop thinking about going to Tarshish. And now is the time to repent and cry out with that repentant heart.

The Lord says, "Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted" (Luke 14:11). The Lord tells us to be faithful in the little things, but the Lord's servants show too much interest in the big things from the beginning and neglect the little things.

I hope that from now on, I will look back on Jonah and be interested in the little things, and I hope that I will become the owner of such a faith that takes care of the smallest. As you do to the Lord, you need to take time to reflect on yourself with all your heart and devotion to the least of us.

In our country, facing the economic crisis, many people who are struggling are appearing. You lose your job, your company goes bankrupt, and your family breaks down as a result. There are too many people around us who encounter robbers without knowing them. At times like these, the Lord is looking for good Samaritans. We need a Samaritan who can help those who have been unwittingly hit by robbers.

Now is the time to consider who our neighbors are. The servants of the Lord must not forsake Nineveh and go to Tarshish, but the saints must love their brothers in the Lord as themselves. So, we must live the life that God wants us to live.
