Title Joshua 3:14-17 Cross the Jordan
Introduction
: Israel completes all preparations and leaves the tent to cross the Jordan. Finally, the promise to give the land is fulfilled.
God's promise to Abraham: "I will give this land to your descendants" (Genesis 12:7).
After completing the preparations according to God's instructions, the priests carried the Ark of the Covenant and took the lead.
When the feet of the priests were submerged, the Jordan River stopped flowing, and all the Israelites crossed.
God's promises are being fulfilled.
1. God Himself Leads (14)
2. Jordan River cut off (15-16)
3. Crossing the Jordan on dry ground (17)
1. God Himself Leads (14)
As God had commanded, the priests carried the ark of the covenant and entered the Jordan River in front of the people.
One). Noteworthy is the Ark of the Covenant.
- It is a fact that the Ark of the Covenant went ahead of the people. This is God Himself watching over us.
2). God is not just watching over us.
God leads us all the way ahead of us with us. We just have to follow.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; He makes me in green pastures…” (Psalm 23:1-2)
⊙ The secret to being led by God is obedience
It is very difficult to follow only the path that God leads because you constantly try to follow your own thoughts.
How can we forsake our own will and submit to God's will?
(Jos 1:7, Matthew 7:21, Gen 6:22, Deut 5:29, James 1:25, Hebrews 5:8)
“But be strong and very courageous, so that you may observe and do all the law that Moses my servant commanded you.
Do not turn to the left or to the right, that you may prosper wherever you go” (Joshua 1:7).
2. Jordan River cut off (15-16)
