Title Just in case / John 1:43-51
In society and history, there are times when we hope and expect the right, the beautiful, the joyful, and the good. But in many cases, this expectation is shattered. In the midst of corruption in politics and society, as well as in the church and myself, I am frustrated and disappointed. There is no other way to get what we expect, but there is someone who does not disappoint us. Two thousand years ago, a young man named Nathanael met this man. The name of this man Nathanael met through Philip's preaching is Jesus. Jesus does not disappoint us.
1. Because Jesus knows all of us.
“When Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, he said to him, “Behold, this is a true Israelite, and there is no deceit in him.” (John 1:47)
2. Because Jesus is our discoverer.
“Jesus answered and said, Before Philip called you, I saw you while you were under the fig tree.” (John 1:48)
3. Because Jesus loves us.
There have been many disappointments in the past, but those who came to Jesus just in case are not disappointed. What can we say to others who do not know Jesus? It can be said that Jesus never fails to disappoint human expectations. Those who expected justice will see true justice in Jesus, those who expected truth will see true truth in Jesus, and those who expected beauty will see true beauty in Jesus. And I will confess this. “You are the Son of God and my King.”
