Title Lecture on Romans 10. Totally Fallen Man
Contents
Totally depraved man. Romans 3:9-20 (2007.06.10)
Introduction
We have a bad feeling when we receive evangelism.
It sees us and calls us sinners. I am puzzled when I say that I am a sinner even though I have not actually sinned or that I need to repent. And I feel bad.
Today's text still speaks badly. In the beginning, everyone is a sinner. Jews are said to have been chosen by God. Or, he insists that Gentiles treated as dogs by Jews are all sinners. (verses 9 and 10)
4 reasons to be guilty
To tell me why I'm a sinner
First, as in verses 11 and 12, it is a sinful heart and mind that does not seek and acknowledge God. In other words, it is the sin of not knowing God as the Father and not acknowledging Him as Lord.
Second, verses 13 and 14.
It is a sinful life of language that deceives and curses. It means to inflict fatal wounds with gossip on the lips.
Third, in verses 15-17, it refers to the sinful act of shedding blood and bringing destruction.
Fourth, as in verse 18, it points to the pride of not fearing God.
In other words, this refers to the total depravity of human beings, which means that all humans are bound to be under judgment.
The Bible clearly says that no one is righteous. Based on this very fact, we say, 'Man is totally depraved, or man is totally incompetent' when it comes to the weakness of ordinary people.
What, then, is the total incapacity of man?
1. It does not mean inability to do moral good.
Just because a person is totally depraved does not mean that he is completely incapable of doing moral good.
If you look around or look at history, there are many people who have given their all to show love and mercy to others.
