Title Let the vision live (Nehemiah 2:1)
Contents
There are times when you have a vision, but you are in a situation where you cannot achieve it. We have to build the walls of Jerusalem, but we are still in the royal palace of Babylon, and we have to serve the king, and we cannot give up the cupbearer. What can I do so that I can't get discouraged and lose my mind until I can achieve my vision?
First, we must pray and wait. Prayer is absolutely essential to developing a vision. Prayer not only keeps you looking at the vision, but also reacts sensitively to even the smallest changes so you don't miss an opportunity. Nehemiah prayed for opportunity. Instead of waiting vaguely for God to accomplish it, I prayed that I would be able to do it myself. Nehemiah prayed for grace. This is because it is possible only when God moves the heart of the king when he speaks about the difficulties of the Jews. Prayer makes us do things that humans cannot do.
Second, you have to plan and wait. It's not just about praying, it's about strategizing. What would you do if you had support? What would you do first if you had time? How will Nehemiah persuade the king to stop serving alcohol, ask for financial support for the rebuilding project, ensure the road is safe, secure enough timber, obtain the office of governor, and move the people of Jerusalem? Before the vision started, I made a plan. You have to plan as if someone would come and give you a chance to achieve that vision. It is the process of preparing in advance what to do when the opportunity arises for a successful change.
Few people can sustain the vision. A vision is not a vague dream, but a living thing, but prayer and plans are a great strength. When the vision dies, so do some of us. If you face an opportunity without preparation, you lose your vision. There are also opportunities that will become unavailable if you do not complete the assignment. The vision of those who wait with prayer and a plan to keep the vision alive until it becomes a reality in a situation that has not yet come true until it is realized. I pray that you will become the protagonists of history that will surely come true, not just vague dreams by becoming a saint who keeps the permitted vision alive.
