<Word>
“Do not depend on people. His breath is in his nose, where is it worth counting?”
<Meditation>
The Reformer Martin Luther prayed this way.
“Help me. Unchanging God! It cannot be expected from humans. It is all in vain, and uncertainty is bound to fail.”
It is a prayer that touches our hearts.
What an age when many are exalted above God! Lips sing to God and praise the works He has done, but what worldly things are in my hands. None of the things man made with his own hands are lifeless, but in any era in history, there was a day when the Creator God alone was exalted. How many detailed desires have guided me to this day, even though the life I have created, called, and chosen should be the purpose of my life. Where are all those crosses pointing? Why are you so helpless and callous?
so,
When I think of the Lord who has come, I am still afraid of the “day of the Lord” proclaimed by Isaiah.
Augustine, who wrote the book of Confessions, also prayed like this.
“Now, I earnestly long to serve God alone. But not by any other iron fetters, but by my own iron will. Enemies captured my heart and made chains to bind me. Lust grew out of an evil heart, habit came from indulging it, and finally my heart felt no need to change it. Grant me grace to do what you have commanded and what you will command me to do.”
<Prayer>
1. Let me do what you have commanded and what you will command me before the end of this year!
2. The harvest is plentiful, but workers are scarce. Send faithful workers!
3. Heal the weak patients and restore the church members who are in trouble!
