<Meditation>
Isaiah, who was living in a desperate age, preaches two works that the Messiah will accomplish.
First, the Messiah to come in (Isaiah 9:2) was described as “a light that shines in darkness.”
And his prophecy was fulfilled 600 years later, with the birth of Jesus. That's right. Jesus is the light of life who came to this earth to light the darkness. The role of light is to illuminate the darkness. When there is no light, we do not realize that darkness is darkness. Jesus came as the light of the world and made us understand all darkness. He made the sin of hiding among the people and reigning as a king completely exposed. The essence of the world is a dark, hopeless, and dead world. That is why the light of life is desperately needed. In this world, Jesus came as the light of life. Only those who follow Jesus who came as the light have the way of life.
Second, (Isaiah 9:4) speaks of the Messiah as “the One who sets free from the heavy menge, the whip, and the oppressor's rod.”
At the time when Jesus came, Israel was ruled by the Roman Empire. The country was torn apart and the people were subjected to exploitation, living in pain and despair. Religion has fallen and has fallen into a yoke that oppresses people. He came as a light in this darkness and set us free. Isaiah's prophecy speaks of the liberation of the people of Israel from captivity. But ultimately, it means deliverance from the powers of sin and death. And this prophecy was fulfilled through Jesus. It is the season of the coming of Jesus, the season of hope for the Lord who will come again.
Jesus Christ, who came as the light of life,
We want to move forward with new hope by meeting Jesus, who sets us free from all oppression and redemption.
<Prayer>
1. May our lives overflow with hope by meeting the Lord who has come as the light of life!
2. The harvest is plentiful, but workers are scarce. Send many faithful co-workers!
