Title Miriam's Leprosy / Numbers 12:4-12
Content 15. Miriam's Leprosy
Numbers 12:4-12
God heard all of Miriam and Aaron's visits to Moses and slandering them. God calls three people. “Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, all come to the tent of meeting now!” The three men go to the tent of meeting. When they reached the tent of meeting, God appeared in the middle of the pillar of filth, stood at the door of the tent of meeting, and called Aaron and Miriam. Aaron and Miriam go forward with fear and trembling.
"Both of you, listen carefully to my words! A prophet is not a messenger of his own words, but a messenger who speaks to you what I have told you. It's about telling people through dreams, but why don't you know that my servant Moses is clearly different from you? Moses is the only one I can talk to and see even my image, so why do you dare to slander Moses without fear? I will surely reward you for your evil deeds. They look like cheeky bastards.”
God was very angry and left the place. The cloud came alive over the veil. Miriam and Aaron reflect on their envy and jealousy. However, once poured, water cannot be contained! God's judgment is a prophet, and there is no exception. Miriam is cursed by God with leprosy.
"Ouch… I'm leprosy! How can I... .” Miriam was in pain as she felt her figure change to a vicious one. Aaron, who was by his side at this time, trembled in fear and said to Moses, “O Lord, we are being punished for our foolishness, but have mercy on us and forgive us.”
In today's story, the final destination of envy and jealousy is his own ruin. However, isn't that our image of being generous with our own faults and stingy with others' faults? A mature Christian recognizes and respects the personality of others.
