Title Open Your Eyes (2 Kings 06:14-23)
The main text is that the king of Syria tried to occupy Israel, but because of Elisha, it continued to fail, so the king of Syria built Dothan fortress around the city to capture Elisha. Fear not, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. And as Elijah prays, he sees a mountain full of horses and chariots of fire.
1. If you do not open your spiritual eyes, you will only see the reality (verses 14-15). The reality we live in is often surrounded by fear, fear, and failure. However, if you do not open your spiritual eyes, it is easy to tremble in fear and despair like Elisha's servant. However, when you open your spiritual eyes, like Elisha, you will live without despair and without fear. Rather, it is an opportunity to experience God's work in a crisis situation. So you will have a happier and more exciting experience.
2. If your spiritual eyes are not opened, you will only do reckless things. (Verse 19) The king of Aram came to Dothan, but Elisha asked God to blind him. It's possible. If we cling to reality and do not pray, our spiritual eyes will be darkened and we will not even know whether what we are doing is a sin, so we are drawn to evil, and that is why we are doing reckless things. Living without recognizing God is a sin. , it is a reckless life. (Romans 14:23, Romans 1:21-23)
3. When we pray, we open our spiritual eyes and do good works (verse 22). Because Elisha opened his spiritual eyes, he could immediately see the God who was in control of reality. So I was not afraid or desperate. When we see God who is in control of life and death, we become brave and do good deeds. Although they were the Aramaean soldiers who were captives who followed them to the city of Samaria due to their dark eyes, they fed them well and sent them back when the king wanted to attack them. It is impossible to love your enemies unless you open your spiritual eyes. You must be able to see God in your life to have your spiritual eyes fully opened.
