Contents Philadelphia Church/Revelation 3:7-8
Key Verse: “Behold, I have set a door open before you, and no one can close it. I know your deeds, and though you have little power, you have kept my word and have not betrayed my name” (Revelation 3:8).
The sixth letter of the Lord is the Philadelphia church, but he only praised and did not criticize the Philadelphia church, which was revived and evangelized along with the church in Smyrna, which suffered tribulation and persecution. What kind of church is it?
First, it is a church rich in brotherly love. The name 'Philadelphia' means 'brotherly love.' Although it has not developed due to frequent earthquakes, it is said that visitors can still feel the beauty and warm hospitality when entering. True to the name of the city or church, the love relationship between the members was beautiful.
Second, it is a church where the Lord has opened an open door. The Lord who appeared in this church is the one who has the key of David. When it is opened, no one can close it, and when it is closed, no one can open it. It means that you will open the door to revival in this church with the key.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, England played a pivotal role in world missions. At that time, the Church in England had a revival, had the best universities and education, and had political power. It seems that when the door of mission is opened, the door of economy and politics will also be opened. I pray that the Lord will put an open door on the path of your family business and children.
Third, it is a church that has been faithful with little power.
Here, we receive great comfort and courage. Even if we and I are lacking a little, if we are sincere and faithful, the Lord will accept us, and that is happiness.
God greatly uses those who obey and are faithful with what they have received, even with one talent. Such a person can please God. Just as atoms invisible to the human eye undergo nuclear fusion over and over again and finally exert tremendous power, if you obey the faith you have even if it is insignificant through action, the results will be explosive.
Prayer: Lord, help us not to blame our little powers, but learn the humility of being faithful with joy. Also, grant us an open door. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen.
