Title Praise of God's Creation / Psalm 8
Praise God's Creation
Psalm 8
It is a hymn that praises God's creation.
It is similar to the contents of Genesis 1.
1. Your beauty (verse 1)
Your name is beautiful in all the earth
Your glory is in heaven.
In praising the Lord, we are praising the grace and glory of the Lord in heaven and on earth.
2. The power of the Lord (v. 2)
To defeat the enemy of the Lord, he has given power to the mouths of children and fermented food.
David's enemies are arrogant people who believe in and boast in human power, and deny the existence of God. God raises up weak children, sucklings, to defeat just such an adversary. They are weak but humble and depend on God.
That is the power of God.
3. The Lord's creation (verses 3-8)
① God’s creation (3)
Your heavens made by your fingers
The moon and stars you have given
David is now looking at the night sky, singing and glorifying God's creation. Although God created everything, especially when we see the sky, the moon, and the stars singing, we are reminded of the wonder of creation and the power of joy when we look at the appearance of the universe.
Looking at the universe above all else, we can't help but sing about the greatness of God's creation.
David sang of God's creative power.
② God’s love for people (4)
God cares about people and takes care of them carefully (recommended).
The reason they sang the power of God was to sing of God's love for the person in him. Compared to this vast celestial body, humans are very insignificant. Nevertheless, it is the fact that such a human being is the object of God's great concern.
This is singing and praising that God created man first among all things.
③ human condition (5)
He made him a little lower than the angels.
This is to glorify the creation of human beings as spiritual beings. It is a being that can be compared to an angel.
④ Human status (6-8)
Crowned with cinema and honor
Gloriousness and honor are the marks of a king. Therefore, to be crowned with it means to establish man as ruler over all things,
“He gave him dominion over all things, and he put all things under his feet.”
4. Your beauty (verse 9)
The beginning and end of this psalm are praises to God. - We must live a life that praises God at the beginning and at the end, or always.
We need to find out the grace of God who raised us high and our position right away.
Human beings were created to praise God for the rest of their lives.
