give glory to God
Psalm 113:1-9
Hallelujah!
We earnestly hope that the Lord will grant us grace this morning. Today's text begins with Hallelujah and ends with Hallelujah. In other words, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, I wondered if all the meanings of these words were implied.
Through the words of Psalm 113, we can fully hear why we should praise God. God says we deserve praise from now on to eternity.
They say that from sunrise to sunset we deserve to be praised. Wherever we live, the sun rises and the sun sets. The whole earth says it deserves to praise the Lord. It says that the whole should praise the Lord.
Why? The Lord is higher than all nations, and his glory is higher than the heavens. You are the highest. In a way, there is nowhere to climb any further. In verse 5, ‘You are on high,’ I think this part is important. If you look at the next verse, the beginning begins with the verb ‘(Schoepel???)’. It means 'to lower'. To put it simply, it is a word that is also used as an expression of being insulted.
This alone sets God apart from other pagan gods. Other idols are only getting higher and higher. He humbles himself and does not look all over the heavens and the earth. The only God who humbles himself, he is God.
Then we need to understand why God humbles himself and searches the heavens and the earth. We can see after verse 7 that it was a low-key for the weak of the times. Verse 9 tells the story of a barren woman. At that time, the most socially underprivileged were women. Among them, women who cannot have children. The Lord will also release the woman's limit.
Isaiah 54:1 says, “Sing you, who are barren and barren. You, who have never experienced childbirth, raise your cheers and raise your voice. A barren woman will see more children than a woman living with her husband. It is the word of the Lord.”
This is the God we believe in. A God who is on the highest, but humbles himself for the lowest. Aren't you so awesome? Isn't it so attractive? Through Psalm 113, the beginning and the end begin with Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah~
