Introduction
God protects his loved ones like the pupil of the eye. And he guards the chicks like a hen under her wings. So let's see how to keep it.
How will God protect us?
1. He keeps them from stumbling (verse 3).
“The Lord protects you from stepping in vain. He does not sleep to protect you.”
What you need to know here is "don't step in vain." This means slipping and falling, and God never sees you fall, but He protects you. The psalmist said, "He stumbles, but he does not stumble, for the LORD holds him in his hand" (Psalm 37:24). In the end, he makes it impossible to fall to the point of going to hell.
2. He keeps them from harm (verses 5-6).
“The Lord is your keeper, and the Lord stands at your right hand and is your shield, the sun by day will not harm you, nor the moonlight by night.”
The thing to note here is “shade”. It means being protected under the shadow of God. It protects you from harm in any difficulty. If God does not keep it, much harm will be done. But you do not need to be anxious, because God will protect you (Isaiah 43:1-3, 41:10).
3. He will keep you forever (verses 7-8).
“The Lord will protect you from all calamity, and He will preserve your life. The Lord will watch over you when you go out and when you come in, from now on to eternity.”
The thing to remember here is “to keep forever”. It is not to keep you temporarily, but to keep you forever. We can rest assured here. There is nothing to worry about as long as God protects you. So, the hymn writer said, “Jesus is guiding me on my way. That's right. We are confident that salvation will be completed in God's protection (Philippians 1:6). And the Lord promised (Matthew 28:20).
conclusion
God calls his chosen people to save them, protects and protects them to the end, so that their salvation is complete, and keeps them for ever and ever so that they can enjoy and live in the kingdom of God.
