Introduction
Jesus Christ said that to persecute the saints is to persecute the Lord (Acts 9:3-5). And if you treat the least of them, you have treated the Lord; if you do not treat the least of them, you have not treated the Lord (Matthew 25:31-46).
So what will happen if we persecute the Lord's saints?
1. You will be put to shame and be turned away.
“Anyone who hates Zion will be put to shame and go away.”
2. It dries up like the grass on the roof (verse 6).
“They become like grass on the roof, and they wither before they grow.”
The psalmist said, "The wicked are not so; but the wind is like chaff. Therefore the wicked cannot stand judgment, nor the sinners into the congregation of the righteous. For the way of the righteous is approved by the LORD, but the way of the wicked will be destroyed." Psalm 1:4-6). In the end, the wicked perish and die like grass on the roof.
3. The wicked fail (verse 4).
“The righteous Lord has broken the chains of the wicked and has set me free.”
The reason is that if the wicked continue to succeed, the world will be completely turned into evil. So the psalmist prayed, "Give not the desire of the wicked, O LORD, and let their wicked sin not come to pass, lest they sleep" (Psalm 140:8). Even if you do not pray like that, you are naturally destined to fail. Not believing in God itself is a failure in life. That is why, both spiritually and physically, in this world and in the world to come, everything has failed.
conclusion
The sufferings of the saints are the secret to receiving God's comfort, an opportunity for the Spirit of God to be with us, and an opportunity to give us the courage to entrust our souls to the Lord.
