Contents

Psalm 104 "Bless the Creator"

This psalm is a hymn of praise to the Lord following Psalm 103, and Psalm 104 praises the majesty and glory of the Lord, while Psalm 103 praises Jehovah's kindness and mercy.

1. Celebrate the Creator's glory (1-4)

Here David praised the majesty and glory of the Creator Jehovah as follows:

1) "You are exceedingly vast" (1). The poet, observing all things Jehovah had created, struggled to find a suitable word to express his feelings, but had nothing to say other than "You are vast. This is what it means to be great.

2) "You are clothed with honor and authority" (1). They praised the supremacy, power, and majesty of God in Jehovah's creative deeds.

3) “He has clothed himself with light” (2). To be clothed with light means that God is holiness and full of life and joy.

4) "You cast the curtains of heaven, you set up towers on the waters, you rode on a chariot of clouds, you walked on the wings of the wind, and you made the wind and flames as lions (2-4). He is majestic enough to make you a dwelling place, an instrument, and a messenger.

2. Celebrate the mystery of creation (5-30)

1) "You laid the foundation of the earth, that it should not be moved forever" (5). God, by his power, made the understanding unwavering. “The waters stood on the hills, and at your rebuke they went quickly and came to your appointed place, and you did not return and cover the earth” (6-9). Originally, the sea covered the earth, but God controls the tides in and out of the sea by his power, so he sets the boundary between the sea and the land and maintains order (5-9).

2) "The Lord made a fountain flow, and gave every beast to drink" (10). God makes springs flow for animals, birds, livestock, and people, makes trees, grass, and vegetables grow, and gives wine, oil, and food (10-18).

3) "The LORD has ordained feasts in the months" (19). God sets the day and night in the cycle of the sun and the moon, and makes people and animals active. “How many are your works, O LORD!” (19-24).

4) “There was a great and expansive sea, and in it were countless animals, large and small” (25). God fills the sea with all kinds of animals, big and small, and feeds them all. “You have given, and they take; when you have stretched out your hand, they are satisfied with good things” (25-30).

3. The glory of the Creator goes on forever (31-35)

1) David blesses God’s glory revealed in creation here and God’s delight in the created world will last forever, 2) He vows to rejoice in God the Creator for the rest of his life and praise God the Creator. The echo that should spread throughout the world forever is "Bless the Lord, O my soul, Hallelujah!" to be.
