Introduction
Human beings suffer disasters not because of God's love and mercy, but because humans have caused the disasters. Then, let's find out what we must do to receive God's calamity.
Why do we have calamity?
1. It is because of excessive greed (verses 13-15).
This means that all the things that the Israelites complained about, tried, and committed adultery in the wilderness suffered God's calamity because of their greed. The temptation of God is the result of the temptation of excessive greed. So, even if you ask for a gift, you should seek it appropriately (1 Corinthians 14:40). Not just spiritual gifts, but everything. If the letter 'and' is attached, it is definitely a malfunction. Overwork, overeating, overeating, etc... That is, it causes disaster.
2. It is because they are jealous and jealous of people (verses 16-18).
This refers to the fact that the 250 people who complained about Moses and Aaron died because of God's wrath. The psalmist testified, "In their tents they grumbled and did not heed the word of the Lord" (25). Being resentful, jealous, or jealous of someone is a very dangerous thing to do. It is said that the people of Israel were destroyed because of this (1 Corinthians 10:10-11). Therefore, we must not forget that resentment, envy, or jealousy are the cause of my ruin in the first place.
3. Because they worship idols (verses 19-20)
While Moses was receiving the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, the people made a golden calf under the mountain and worshiped it, saying it was God. As a result, they received God's wrath, and "they also joined Baal-peor and ate the sacrifices offered to the dead. By these deeds, they provoked God to anger, and calamity came upon them.” (28-29) This must be seen as the Israelites bought God's wrath and caused calamity. Therefore, in order to avoid disaster, we must discern what God's will is (Romans 12:2).
conclusion
In order to avoid disaster, we must abandon excessive greed, do not blame others, and do not serve idols. Give me a heart of self-control, and give me pure faith!
