The greatest challenge in life is salvation from sin. When this fundamental salvation is achieved, the salvation of life is also guaranteed.
What is salvation?
1. Salvation comes from God (verse 1).
The salvation of the people of Israel from Egypt and the salvation of Christians in the New Testament era were initiated only by God, and were entirely by God's grace. This grace is a mysterious event that cannot be understood by human reason. The salvation of sinners is the work of God Himself. Therefore, salvation comes from God.
2. The work of those who have been saved is to glorify (verse 3).
The purpose of all creation is to be good in the sight of God. The work of the new creation in Christ is to please the God of salvation (1 Corinthians 10:31).
“Therefore, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
The glory of God must be revealed in the life of praise, thanksgiving, and service of the saints. When we please God, greater joy comes down from heaven.
3. Those who are saved will be governed by God (verses 7-9).
When man is in a state of being fallen into sin, all things are tired. However, when man is freed from sin and comes under the rule of God, all things can enjoy the joy of restoration (Romans 8:21).
“For the creation will also be set free from slavery to corruption, and will have the glorious freedom of the children of God” (Romans 8:21).
The reign of God is righteousness and peace. There is no peace for the wicked. Only in the reign of God can we enjoy peace.
The saved saints should give thanks for the grace of salvation and give glory to God.
