Put on new clothes (Matthew 22:12)
The guests invited to the feast were thrown into the outer darkness because they were not wearing robes. For us, Jesus Christ becomes a new garment, a robe, that envelops us, defiled by our sins and transgressions. In order for us to come before God, we must put on the new garment of Christ, which hides our filthiness. Let's see what new clothes we should wear for the new year.
You must put on the new clothes of your heart (Romans 12:2) - It is said that the most filthy thing among all things is the human heart. Christ is holy and without blemish (Hebrews 7:26). We are to be clothed with this holy and spotless heart of Christ.
We must put on new clothes of action (Romans 12:2) - Let's think about our actions over the past year. Don't you have more shame you want to hide than an act to be proud of before the Lord? Just as all of Christ's actions on this earth were perfect, let's imitate Christ and renew our actions as children of light (Ephesians 5:8).
We must put on the new clothes of evangelism (Acts 1:8) - Christ did the work of the cross for us, sinners, who have nothing to see. In this way we have become new people in Christ and have been given the responsibility to testify to the Lord's love (Matt. Now we must live the life of an evangelist as born-again, not as we were before.
With God's abundant grace, on this New Year's morning, we should put on new clothes for our hearts, new clothes for behavior, and new clothes for evangelism, and we should become saints who joyfully participate in God's feast.
