Title Reasons for Gratitude/Psalm 100:1-5
Content Reasons to be grateful/Psalm 100:1-5
Key Verse: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise, give thanks to him and bless his name” (verse 36).
Word: In the book 'To Be Happier Than King David', written by Master Bok-soon Shim of Cheonan Walnut Bakery, there is a story about a safe with a Kleenex tissue box. Master Kwon doesn't buy a safe made of iron, he uses it all up and uses an empty tissue box as a safe. It is a short story that the picture of the box packaging is beautiful, it can be used as scrap, and that even thieves do not want it to be taken away. Although it looks sloppy like a tissue box, it is very hopeful that it will become a saint who is fruitful and full of gratitude.
God has given us a bright and beautiful Thanksgiving today. Why do we keep Thanksgiving? Because God made us (verse 3). God made us, and we are his. “Jacob, create you. Now says the LORD, who made you, O Israel, now says the one who made you. Fear not, I have redeemed you, and I have called you by name; you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1). Learn to love. The God who created, the God who created, the God who redeemed, and the God who called me by name. Therefore, it is natural to give thanks to God.
Because we are God's, his people, and the sheep of his pasture (verse 3). Just as sheep cannot exist apart from their shepherd, so now we cannot live without God. To the sheep, the shepherd is everything. The shepherd takes care of the sheep. He knows the sheep's needs. He takes care of the sheep when they are sick. He leads the sheep to green pastures and still waters. In this way, God is our shepherd. Therefore, we thank God for the shepherd. It is natural.
This is because God is good, kind, and faithful (verse 5). Anyone can be good once. He is also kind at times. He appears sincere at other times. But God's goodness, kindness, and his faithfulness God is eternal. “It is eternal and goes through generations” (verse 5). This is the nature of God. He is a God who does not change yesterday, today, and tomorrow. People change according to circumstances and time goes by, but God changes. There is no way he can do it. Therefore, we should be thankful to God who loves us forever and ever.
Prayer: Thank you for the joy of the harvest, the opportunity to be grateful. In the name of our Lord we pray, amen.
