Numbers 16:4-11
Korah's rebellion is made known to Moses and Aaron. “Moses, something has happened. Now Korah agitated the people and rose up in rebellion to expel Moses and Aaron the High Priest.” “What, Gora?” “Yes, don’t talk. It is said that two hundred and fifty chieftains who were already serving as leaders participated in the rebellion meeting. We must form an army now and defeat those traitors. You can't just sit still and beat yourself up like this. Now, Moses, give the order.” But Moses, as he did during the slander of Miriam and Aaron, again chose to pray rather than use his authority.
After praying to God, Moses goes to Korah and his followers. “You guys listen. I am sure that God will solve this matter himself. If your argument is correct, it will surely be accepted. Because you want the priesthood that way, pick up your censer and go inside the tabernacle.
A priest was able to serve God closely at all times as a person who carried out the holy office of burning incense. However, those who did not receive divine authority or who sinned were not spared death while carrying out this work. Therefore, Moses' proposal was intended to bring the Korahites to judgment before God. Moses' speech continues.
“And the children of Levi, listen. Are there any who complain that the service of the tabernacle entrusted to you is a small task? God commanded the tribes of Levi to serve the tabernacle, and among the tribes of Levi, only the descendants of Aaron allowed the priesthood. However, there may be differences in position in serving God, but there is no difference in class. Aaron was appointed high priest by the sovereignty of God, so how can you argue about him?”
