Sermons for Preaching

Title Right now-(Hebrews 5:11~14)

Contents

Our faith should not stay in one place, but move forward.

We must be able to live a more mature Christian life tomorrow than today.

Today, the author of the book of Hebrews urges Jewish Christians who were not able to live a more mature life of faith.

The author of the book of Hebrews felt the need to teach about Melchizedek, the eternal High Priest, but he cannot explain it. The reason was that they couldn't understand even if I explained it. This Melchizedek will be discussed in detail later in Chapter 7, so we will look at it again at that time.

Verse 11 says, “It is difficult for you to explain because your hearing is dull.”

The word 'dull' here means 'incomprehensible'. This word is translated as 'lazy' in 6:12. The reason they could not understand the Word of God was because of their spiritual laziness.

Spiritual laziness only breeds spiritual ignorance.

We must be diligent in the Word of God.

In [Acts 17:11], there is a saying, “The people in Berea were more generous than those in Thessalonica, so that they received the word with eagerness of heart, and searched the Scriptures daily to see if this was so.”

When you come across the Word of God, you need to meditate on the Bible more deeply in order to know what it means. To know the Word, we need to pray more and study more.

At that time, Jewish Christians were to “become teachers already, for the time is old.”

Of course, not everyone who has been in the faith for a long time becomes a teacher.

However, if they had followed their religious life properly, they could all become teachers.

How long have you been living your life of faith?

Are you still unable to eat solid foods and are you drinking milk?

We must be able to experience “the word of righteousness” (verse 13).

You must be able to experience the deep spiritual worlds of the Word.

You must receive refinement through the Word and be able to discern good and evil (verse 14).

The greatest enemy that hinders our spiritual maturity is 'laziness'.

In order to defeat the enemy of laziness, we need to open up and listen to the Word of God ‘right now’.

Meditate more deeply on God's Word from now on.
